The Duncan
Currently, mostly scaring them soundly Still learning and overcoming being a rifle shooter my whole adult life. In total to date I've hit 5 out of about 18 shots at Woodies. Clays are a different story 8-9/10. Shooting Woodies in high winds I find most challenging! They can come in like exocets missiles! proTOM1
A 2 to 1 ratio is ok for decoying pigeons and roosting about 4 to 1 . i shot a wood in high winds last week and shot a ratio of 6 to 1 but it was great fun . so far this year my ratio is around 8 birds for 10 shots which is beeter than last year as i ended killing 6 out of 10 birds

kyska
About half for me at the minute, tbh I don't get much better than that even on a good day. I'm also trying to get used to shotgun after using rifles. Edited February 11, 2011 by kyska
motty
I'm happy when averaging a bird for around 1.5 shots. Anything over 2 shots for a bird and i'm annoyed with myself.
Sprackles
I wont tell you mine, lol. Its a secret between me and proTom1. Tom....counted up my empties and those last few birds halved my kill to cartridge ratio.....phew.

shoughton
My rate varies on the day depending upon wind and how well they are coming into the decoys - but I vary between 1 in 2 through to 1 in 4. Beware that other will tell you they consistently have far higher rates - but take it with a pinch of salt! Pigeons present some of the most challenging shots! We've all managed periods whilst shooting where you seem be hitting everything (I once shot a dozen without missing one) but then we've proceeded to miss many after too But give me day of getting shots at the pigeons any day of the week. If I have a particularly bad day I generally blame something else - like the cartridges or the dog moving around in the hide Steve
