cooter
I was out very early this morning with the .308. After a complete none event of a morning, I was about to leave the shoot, and a crow landed 90 yards away. :look: I was surprised at what the 125grn Sierra did at that range. The crow was probably less impressed, as it was spread over six metres of field. jimmyh1988
haha i suppose in comparison the crow and a 308 and ours would be a 50 cal shooting us you wouldn't feel a thing

Beretta28g
haha i suppose in comparison the crow and a 308 and ours would be a 50 cal shooting us you wouldn't feel a thing A 125 grain slug weighs 8.09987 gramms A crow weighs 510 gramms (SO IT SAYS HERE http://blx1.bto.org/birdfacts/results/bob15671.htm) So the bullet is 1.588% of the weight of the crow. So a 15 stone man weighs 95.2543 kg So 1.588% of 95.2543 is 1.51 kg So you would need a bulet with a weight of 23302.828 grains/1.51kg to mimic the damage (roughly) Max 50 caliber bullet weight 800 grains a 20 mm cannon has a 100 gram projectile The nearest ammunition would be a high explosive 51mm mortar, very nice but a ting bit bigger than a 50 cal

jcf1
I dunno - it is very dependent on whether it hits soft tissue/blood or bone and in what sequence. As well as the nature of the head. Although of course a bigger cal carries more energy - I've shot a pigeon with .308 and it zipped right through. If you were so inclined there are rather nasty images of some .50 injuries that are almost as spectacular as that crow about.
