HDAV
A Friend of mine is consideing a 12g (686 M/C Beretta) and she has been fine with 21g, 24g and 28g Clay loads Eley First etc. What is a soft on the shoulder load suitable for Game Pheasant etc Cartridge price isnt the issue more the quality/low recoil. She doesnt shoot a lot of game but in the past has always been lent a 20/28 gauge but doesnt have the budget for 2 guns and will be using the 12 for clays and game for the forseeable. sitsinhedges
I have always found Gamebore Traditional Game mild in 20gauge. Maybe try them in a

MK38
Eley Impax cartridges should fit the bill.... haven't used them in years, but the old paper cased ones were very soft on the shoulder..... used to be very popular with game shooters. Dave Beat me to it Impax is a nice 28g load, works well for me in a light weight SBS but prefer 32g in my O/U Edited June 5, 2011 by welshwarrior

Maybe try them in a 12 You mean put a 20gauge cartridge in a 12 gauge? Always remember to wrap a lot of tape round them first because they will slip down the bore and lodge. Followed by a 12 gauge cartridge, they could make a big bang and hurt someone. (Written in the register of a dipstick.) Hull Cartridge make a 26g and 28g Imperial game 12 bore load. An old boy on our shoot uses them to good effect on game. They are really soft on the shoulder and by the sound of things the sort of load you are after.

I read it as the same Brand ond format as the 20 but in a 12 gauge load! Looks like hull are the way to go i know local shop that does them and i know the owner shoots them in his old english SxS. Next time I'm in I'll get a box to try it hink.

Express do a 28g #5, called ''Kinnel'' if you can find a shop that sells them. I got mine from Rakers in Petworth. Very good cartridge

Alycidon
Impax would be first choice, Hull Imperials second. Both very soft shooting but Impax gives no appearance of less impact. I used Imperials on a couple of partridge drives when I was shooting well, might have been me but they did not quite have the authority of Impax although everything was dead enough.
