unapalomablanca
I know, makes you feel like a kid again. I went out on thurs and had 17. It was my first real day this year when you knew you would get some. Just look at the wires and thats where to shoot. youve got a good 8wks of shooting if you keep looking for birds. I too am on tenterhooks! I've had a good look around my permissions and I think I've still a couple of weeks to wait. To me, it's like waiting for Christmas as a child, but with a much less fixed date. I've not had a decent go at the pigeons in weeks. regards, Z. MM
checked another one this morning, and as i puled in, it looked like something was playing in the wheat. As i got closer, a load of pigeons flew off. Managed one before heading to another field.

As i got closer, a load of pigeons flew off. Managed one before heading to another field. did the same monday morning on way home from work! thought all was quiet nothing around then all of a sudden 50+ pigeons (that i hadn't seen in the wheat) took off from about ten yards away to my right ! to say i **** myself is an understatement!! so one day this week i shall be there waiting to give them a fright
stokie
We had a good few hours on laid barley . They were in the flat patches . Couldn't get them to decoy buy still had a few under the flight lines Farmer says 2 weeks . Then the fun begins ,we got more crop this year so will be able to follow them around a bit more May even offer some days for sale £500 per gun per day seems about the going rate with guarantee of 1000 birds ..... LOL

UKPoacher
This year there are no crop circles or flattened crops of any kind. The pigeons are up on the wires waiting for the crop to ripen. Just a few dropping into wheelings and field edges, but nothing major yet. Tried drawing them in today and managed one for one shot in just over an hour. They wouldn't come into deeks on clover either despite a few being on when I got there.
al4x
funny the difference down here, crops are so thin they can pretty much just drop into them. Means next to no shooting as they are so spread out food everywhere. Still combine should be out this weekend weather permitting which will soon change things
