Katash
Don't think your gonna get a straight answer here on this one, most of the community seem to be split 50/50 over them - All I can say is I have a friend who has one and it NEVER jams (providing its kept clean) and I have seen him do 400+ consecutive shots with it on a clay ground with 28gm shells. I have a ****ty 15 year old Fabarm Euro 3 that is pretty much the same, if its kept clean it runs fine but its a little harsh on recoil compared to the newer S/A's so I'm thinking of getting a newer one for field work and some clay shooting - I'd get a Hatsan in a heartbeat as it feels nice to shoot. .... Wont rule out a second hand Beretta tho
TaxiDriver
I think this means you can use any carts UPTO the big 3 1/2" length ones which I would think are going to be the heavy loads that folks use for Wildfowling etc You'll find that there will be a barrage of advice from people who hate the Hatsan Escorts with a passion, even though many of them wont have owned one they've "known or heard of a bloke who has one and has nothing but trouble with jamming etc etc etc, It's a popular past time 'Hatsan bashing' and is a popular bandwagon to jump on. Conversely, You'll find many folks who have them, have used them, and for whom they've proven to be a serviceable tool, albeit at the budget end of the scale. Thats not to say some don't have problems once in a while as does any manufacturer, but someone who spends 3 or 4 times as much for a premium brand name isn't going to admit it so readily. From what I've read it seems many 'troubles' are rectified with regular maintenance/cleaning. If youre buying new, you get a 3yr warranty same of better than others so........IF you get a duff one - Return It.
ste12b
I have an old 3" escort (not a small person, before you say) and it works brilliantly (just keep them clean). A friend has just bought a brand new 3" model (gun, not midget cat walk person) and put 100 28g 2 3/4" cartridges through it on first outing without a glitch. phaedra1106
I've got 3 Hatsan, an older "button version" and a newer fast load version of the semi-auto and a Silver Select O/U. Only problem I've had with the oldest (now over 4 yrs old) was shortly after getting it, the action would jam, Edgar Bros collected and returned it free of charge along with the piece of cleraning patch I'd managed to loose inside it Only other problem with the semi's are with Hull Comp X carts, they are about 2 or 3mm shorter than Eleys and won't feed if I put 2 in the mag as they both come out together when cycled (either by firing or by hand), load 1 in the breech and 1 in the mag and they work fine. The Silver Select is as tight an action as I had with my previous Miroku or Berreta, no complaints about it at all. As Taxidriver says you get a no quibble 3 year warranty with Edgar Bros who I've found to be excellent
lewj
what are good but cheap semi's for clays £300 or cheaper
al4x
for clays and starting out you would be far better off looking for a 28" over and under.
lewj
i all ready shoot with an o/u but fanci a semi gona try one next clay shoot
super sharp shooter
hi buddy If you do buy one get the 3" chamber these will cycle smaller cartridges. You wont need the 3.5" if you are shooting clays. The 3.5"is more for large steel shot. Edited July 7, 2011 by super sharp shooter
Sharpshooter.123
Iv got a black synthetic with 3" chambers and it will cycle 21g without any issues, also deals with heavy 3" magnum no problem, dont bother with 3 1/2" chambers for rough/clays and your probably asking for jams with small cartridges, iv got no problem with mine but there is stories about good/bad ones

billytheghillie
i would look around and get a new one for not much more than that one. only 1 choke with it buy new and you get 5 chokes and a 3 year warranty
Imperfection
I'll be honest here. If you want a Self loader for pigeon/rough shooting and dont mind if it gets dropped in mud/water,used as a hammer/fence post, javelin, nose picker, bottle opener and dont mind loosing a bit of money on in a few years then get a Hatsan. They're cheap enough so even if you replace it in 5 years it wont owe you anything. If you want a self loader which will see you your money back in a few years and look prettier then get a Beretta.

Acid House
My Mrs has had the luxano for a while now and I also lend it a mate when we go clay bashing. Not a glitch up till Sunday with Kent velocity 28g. Got a new batch last week ( blue tint) and the gun has started to jam now and then. They also don't eject from my o/u occasionally but jam half way out. I have given it a spring clean and changed the O ring as this was getting tatty and will see how it goes next weekend. CZ550Kevlar
Don`t get the 3 1/2" chamber version unless you are using heavy loads 36gm and up, 3" will cycle 24gm steel or 28gm lead, they do work, ignore what alot of people say, they are like marmite. Durham-laddie
see im on a limited budget with being 16 , i have a while before i need to make a desion as i use the clubs gun and my sgc ap is still at home so there is no rush Dude, save the little bit extra and buy a brand new one, warranty is everthing these days. I toyed with the idea of a Hatsan for ages, took the plunge last week and got one. For the cost and general usage its spot on. I have fired about 350-400 carts through it, ranging from 28g to 32g....faultless to be fair...and for some reason I seem to be hitting stuff a little better A cracking starter gun....but fit is everything, if it's a pants fit, its not worth a penny
silver pigeon 3
for mine, it's the 3" chamber model and it cycles all i put in it, which ranges from 28g clay carts right up to 50g fox bashers. Only advice would be keep it clean and keep an eye on the o ring as they are prone to splitting. Only time i get jams are using 65mm cartridges and using "softer" 28g clay loads (like Hull comp x etc).
Simon123
28g loads will go through the gun fine as long as you use carts which are 67mm or longer, some work on 65mm but many dont whatever make you buy :good: OooHhh your making a great choice on getting a Hatsan escort, their great, I love mine ;)
mitch66
I have a Hatsan Silver Optima 12g O/U synthetic, hasnt given me any problems, bought new with 3 year no quible warranty, cant fault it. Definatley go for a new one & if looked after should outlast the warranty, from my point of view its pointless spending a thousand or two just to go romping thru the bush
