Lesson with Beretta

I was lucky enough to win a lesson from PW's very own Beretta in this years PW Charity Raffle (well done again to the South before any of them chirp up ) so decided to take advantage of the Mancunian British Summer on Wednesday and redeemed it then

Having discussed the day via PM before hand , I met up with Brian (Beretta) at Manchester Clay Shooting Club and after a brief chat we headed out to the Skeet range to have a couple of rounds; partially to warm-up but really to impose the importance of the likes of awareness of what the target is doing at different points along its flight and picking suitable places to break each target as singles AND when thrown as pairs. Suffice to say it was a steep learning curve and Brian swiftly corrected any errors or misconceptions that I had :good:

After 75 targets of skeet i stocked my bag up with cartridges and we headed out to the Sporting course to have a wonder round. Brian asked if there were any targets that were causing me trouble, so we made a beeline for those particular stands so that he could watch me shoot and comment accordingly. Brian's advice made the difference and got me starting to hit the target presentations that i had been struggling with  it also served to simplify the approach to certain targets and enabled me to decide where was the best place to shoot them and I started to learn how, and when, to take advantage of seeing targets early in simultaneous pairs :good:

After shooting approximately three quarters of the course, we headed for a break break to grab a bit of refreshment, a chat about how things had gone thus far and I took the opportunity to have a cartridge re-stock  Back out to the Sporting course and it was back to business to see if i had remembered what i had learnt and most importantly if i was able to put it into practice  I took the opportunity to shoot a few stands that I hadn't done earlier and demonstated my unorthodox method of shooting driven targets :yp:

All in all it was time well spent and has given me plenty to think on about. If any PW'ers t'up North are considering getting some lessons then it would be well worth your while dropping Brian/beretta a PM :good::yes:

Nick, damn! I can't believe you've had a lesson with Brian a few days before our duel this Sunday. Now you'll know all the tricks he taught me I'm going to have to rely purely on my handicap for advantage :o

Ah well ...

Cheers, Mark
