ollie
We received our pheasant poults yesterday, so we were hard at work yesterday getting them into the pen. I thought I would take a few pics for anyone interested and I will update on the progress of the syndicate. Below is a pic of the pen: It is a necessity to have a net on the pen due to the amount of Buzzards about; there were 5 in the air at the one time when I was down today. Below are a couple of pics inside the pen: Also when we were getting the pen ready for the poults arrival I found an abandoned nest from one of the birds that were left from last year. Unfortunately she didn't hatch the eggs out :

ollie
looks good ollie where did you get the netting from mate what covers the pen could realy do with some. thanks dm I can't remember where we got it; we must have it about 10 years now. It is a great job and it stops the BOP getting at the poults. We take the net off about a month before we start shooting the birds.
mark@mbb
the netting on the pen looks like silage netting comes in a small roll but opens out to hell of a size Mark

ollie
the netting on the pen looks like silage netting comes in a small roll but opens out to hell of a size Mark The net we have was custom made by someone to fit the size of our pen. Great pictures Ollie. Interesting location for the pen, did yous put down many? Got ours in yesterday, 150. Must put some some photos up. I see a lot of you guys have commented on the location of the pen; if you say the terrain of our syndicate, this is the only half level place on the whole shoot . The rest of the ground is steep but it does make for great shooting. We put down 129 altogether but there are still a few birds on the shoot from past seasons.
