moondoggy
Multi tool. You'll not regret buying it, so useful in many ways, not just skirting.
Aled
Nice ideas guys, mine is going in the cupboard in my man cave, so it will be out of sight, so taking the skirting board off is not a problem. Can't believe I've just resurrected a 5 year old thread by putting it in to google! Looks like the knowledge and skills on PW goes well beyond the shooting community. discobob
My FEO actually told me to put the cabinet above the skirting - keeps the wife happy he said - didn't bloody work - she's still a misserable ******
TaxiDriver
Lay the wall down flat, - makes the job a lot easier
Paladin
I left my skirting intact by placing a sheet of ply on top of it and sandwiching it between the cupboard and the wall. Longer bolts can then go through the back and into the wall, and through the base and into the floor. No damage, important if you live in rented accommodation. darren 67
Op said its to fit a fire surround so would look odd on top of the skirting board?
Jaymo
Can't believe this, just put "how to cut skirting board off the wall" into google, and the first answer that comes up is from Pigeon Watch! Brilliant! Yes i'm fixing a gun cabinet to a wall and have to remove some skirting board. Nice one all! (Even though its 5 years later!) Cheers Aled That's because it's a resurected thread - yes the OP was fitting a fire surround, but Aled wasn't- his is a cabinet
HDAV
Mine is sat on top of 500 carts....... Old house I packed the wall out with dmf to bring the wall out the same level the drilled 2 10mm holes higher up for the fixing bolts to go through

LOL Still the advice is very good on here though. Cheers Aled
