12borejimbo
In a dilemma, got £1000 to spend on a FAC auto, want something reliable and to keep for a long time. What would you go for?
kent
Not sure i like my SX3 is the M2 3 1/2" and is that of any relivence as the big shell is realy a goose thing?
12borejimbo
I would get the 3 inch version, it would be my everything shotgun, rabbiting, pigeon shooting, foxing on the quad or walk through drives ect! A bit torn, I've always wanted a Benelli, but there are a lot of good things about the sx3, I've been offered one new at a reasonable price and wanted some second opinions! Is yours an fac version Kent?

Hi 12borejimbo I always had in my mind wanted a Benelli then I got to handle a few and I must admit I didnt like them I know Im going to get slated but they looked and felt cheap I wasnt impressed I prefer the older versions, (Montys /Raffaelo,= prob spelt wrong) I bought the SX3 instead I love it uncomplicated and shoots sweet. I bought mine brand new from "Work and Wear" they did me a cash deal so it was all good. If you want I can bring mine over, I have a clay trap, hand thrower and a few clays and you can have a go. PM me if you want. Good Hunting Alan I have the 3.5" version as I only shoot 70mm cased shells, Gamebore clear pigeon, I have never had a problem Edited August 29, 2011 by Alanl50

No i couldn't take it on the marsh it it was, also i cant see the point of FAC guns even when things are realy hot to get three good shots off is hard and i have never found muself empty just by replacing each shot with a fresh one pushed in from underneath
Simon123
I'd go for the SX3 if i was you mate, great guns and much softer on the shoulder than the Benelli, and they handle very nicely ;) If i were to get one though, i'd go for the 3.5" camo version even though im not a wild fowler, may come in handy some day ;)

Thanks for the offer, I have sent you a PM!

Pigeon shooting, it would be hard, like you said, I think with my old escort I only ever managed 1 or 2 treble kills, hahaha.

Tam
Beretta Extrema
Paul T
Tried the Benelli and didn't like it. The recoil system just ain't for me. I was torn between a new SX3 and a 2nd hand Beretta Urika - in the end plumped for the Beretta as it just felt better balanced to me, but it was close. I'd go SX3 Edited August 29, 2011 by Paul T
utectok
I'm pretty sure you can't shoot much with a FAC shotgun vermin only no game and no wildfowl thats on the licence I think! Stick witha three shot mate! Can shoot anything with that
twitchynik
I was in the market for a do it all semi and tried all sorts - SX3, Extrema, M2, Maxus. Finally plumped for a Fabarm XLR Composite. Lovely little gun. No fuss black - chuck it around the hide, drop it and not worry about the woodwork. Comes up nice (that was the big deciding factor, it's a bit higher on the comb than the others), is nowhere near as heavy as the Extrema but feels just as well built. Took it out over the weekend and it's been blooded on the Jackdaw and handles really nicely. Can't wait to show it to the ducks on Thursday
Terry P
I've had a SX3 for 3 yrs, use it mainly for fowling on the foreshore, put alsorts of cart's through it, not a single jam and no rust, also used it on the pigeon and for a bit of rough shooting and it handles it all no worries. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
point and shoot
Whilst we all aspire to the gun of our dreams I would suggest that more importantly you should look to gun fit. Does the gun fit you. Do you know what gun fit is? If you don't - don't buy any gun until you do, and then seek the help and advice of a friend or even better a gunsmith. It may be the finest gun made but if it doesn't fit you it's no good!

ziplex
You have to try both before you decide, my M2 gets a bit of a pasting and has never let me down......feels very light/pointable but it isn't a soft shooting gun, having said that 'in use' I don't notice the recoil. With a T shirt on trying heavy loads on farm waste ground pings a bit though
Breastman
Which ever one fits you the best!! If they both fit M2 everytime - spending less time cleaning = more time shooting! Mark
