What was...?

I was 10 and had only been shooting for a few months and my father had just bought me my first gun, a scirrocco 20g over and under. It was also my first ever time out wildfowling on a small pond for evening flight. Two mallard came in just after the sun had set and i fired one shot into the darkness i could barely make out the shape of the duck at this time, dropped the hen stone dead way of to my right and my dad took the drake right after. Was amazed to shoot my first duck with the first shot from my new gun, the image is still clear as day in my mind after 9 years, was chuffed to bits and immediately bitten by the bug....even remember i used an rc20 32g no5 shot :good:

Caty and ball bearing mallard while Pike fishing as a kid (little monster i was). The first True ducks i shot were Teal. I was shooting with a few middle aged blokes who had been wiping my eye all day but as the darkness drew in i was the only one who could see them and showed them what i could do. A few years ago, many years on i took my daughter out on a similar flight with a mate, she saw them plain enough but we just heard the plops as they landed

Blue-winged teal while prairie chicken hunting.

Was hunting chickens (a cousin to your grouse) and came upon a wet area that I needed to cross. The Brittany I was hunting behind B-lined it to what looked like a little pool and up jumped three teal. Bang, bang and I had my first duck.

It was so much fun I spent the next hour swamping it....bagged a couple more good fun!
