Over the past year have the pigeon numbers in your local area increas

In recent weeks there have been a number of comments about the lack of pigeons about. It would be good to get clear picture of whats going on around the country.

Plenty around here, jus so spread out there doesn't look to be as many.

No shortage of them but not concentrated enough to make any decent bags.

Won't be long before they flock up and every1 wil be saying they have turned up from nowhere....happens every year

Still plenty round me no decline here ,ive not shot as many this year but ive had more on than normal ,client wise the numbers are up and by the end of the year should be around 14,000 shot .

if you look at the shooting times article 8th june, by government office region.. pigeon numbers are up all over england, and nothern ireland.

 

i have seen an increase round my neck of the woods northwest.

definately less in my part of the parish . we are doing to good a job .

I think the birds are there, but at this time of year they are dispersed over the area and many don't leave the woodlands all day.

 

Once the leaves fall and we get a few cold snaps they will flock up and become very evident.

There are birds about but as Cranfield says, they are spread quite thinly at the moment.

They should start coming together soon. I've had very little on my two patches which are a fair distance apart

but if you asked the question with reference to my garden I'd have to say they had increased a lot.

I'm right in the middle of the country, I'd guess they are about the same, but as I've said many times on here, decoying this year has been nigh on impossible for me.

 

I'm a bit of a novice anyway, but have done well over the last few years, just not this year.

Just starting to see groups of birds beginning to form the last couple of weeks.

Can't wait to get out on a frosty morning and sit in the hide with a steaming cup of coffee and the gun!

as has been said, think it time of year. not seeing many at all in fields, but around woodland edges and under beech trees there plenty. i spooked a flock of approx 40 when i pulled up this morning at 6.

There were good numbers around at this time last year, then they cleared off during the big freeze we had around Christmas time, never to return.

 

I see plenty on my travels around the Country, just very few in my part of Herts at the moment.
