Fisherman Mike
An appeal hearing clears Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito of British student Meredith Kercher's murder. I followed this with great interest when the case came to court...I always thought the Italian Authorities were far too quick at reaching a conclusion. Any thoughts.? guest1957
Given that the original case against her seemed rather fantastical I don't think there will ever be a case against her 'beyond reasonable doubt'. Having observed this case, I am glad such character assassinations do not form a persuasive part of our justice system. My verdict: probably innocent Edited October 3, 2011 by guest1957

Would a normal persons daughter ie not from a wealthy/powerful family be out now? Shippy
Gimlet
Had she not undergone trial by television prior to and during the original hearing, an appeal may not have been necessary. This kind of circus is likely to cheapen our justice system in the near future.
Mungler
My understanding was that the list of the possible (not just probable) names in the frame was very short. I'm not sure where else they can or will be looking.... Hell, if OJ got off......

Would a normal persons daughter ie not from a wealthy/powerful family be out now? Shippy You cannot know conclusively one way or another unless you were there, so I qualified it. However I think the case against her was weak from the beginning, and I just didn't buy the character assassination. She enjoys sex, so what?! Suprise, suprise most women her age do. If that was the best they had to go on, I just don't see how she could have done it.

Gordon R
I sincerely hope she is innocent, because she is officially "Not Guilty". That said - I would not stake a dime on whether the verdict was right.

-Mongrel-
My gut feeling...she's not whiter than white, but not a murderess. The guy already convicted and still so after appeal, Rudy Guede, is in my opinion the killer, despite his insistence he didn't wield the knife, there's a lot of evidence putting him at the scene, the rest I think was just trying to wriggle off the hook. CZ550Kevlar
She will be well paid for her 3 years in prison, she stands to make at least £650k out of it and then some.

I think most of us wouldn't spend 3 years in any prison for that money...
JustJon
3 years of 0 earnings (although 0 outgoings), a lack of career progression, a reputation so damaged she'll struggle to have a career? Not sure what her background was and cba to look but keeping it simple, if her average wage over the last 3 years was £50k, then the compensation left is £500k. So she hasn't got to work for 10 years? or can afford a £500k reduction i lifetime earnings since someone destroyed her image. I'd prefer my freedom, career and good name please. four-wheel-drive
Both her and the boyfriend may or may not be guilty but they shore did not behave like they was innocent when they was first charged telling different stories and to be honest the way they acted it seemed to be all a game to them this time her attitude was much more serious that probably made a lot of difference to the result I still think that she was involved in it. 39TDS
Seems to me that as she is American and her family can throw lots of money at her PR then she must be innocent. More than anything else I feel terribly sorry for Meredith Kercher and her family for what they have all gone through, back then and now all over again. secretagentmole
But with Italy nearing the same financial state as Greece, Ireland, Spain and Portugal how likely do you think it is she will get her compensation!
Dr W
Not sure on this one, I don't think she actually killed her but definitely think they were involved in someway.
