adbirdy
Has anyone noticed any laid barley patches due to the recent heavy rain and strong winds that we have had over the last few days? Could it be a bit early, has the barley not developed enough ie not quite top heavy enough due to the ears not being fully formed yet? Fair bit gone down round here, although the seeds on the ears arent fully developed yet so there's no interest in it as yet. A good idea is to look for any set aside fields (that havent been sprayed off) as any barley growing in that will be well advanced compared with the deliberately sown stuff, and as the crop is not so thick its easier for them to get in. the hitman
A bit early in my patch.I have mixed views on laid barley, i love it when a farmer phones to say his field is getting hammered, hate it when you shoot 80+ and pick up 42, which happend to me last year. Not quite the south of france, sunny staffordshire, but I had noticed that the ears were beginning to form and wondered if it got blown down would they continue to grow and perhaps provide a shooting opportunity or just rot
