There's lots of 'good films' but there's few that will actually alter you, and perhaps alter you forever (if only in a small way). On the list of "great films", obviously there's the likes of Shawshank, Midnight Express, Saving Private Ryan and Papillion but they are too obvious. I loved that when I was a nipper though I dare say it wouldn't be as watchable now. I thought Withnail and I was the epitome of a classic film for most of my youth but was sorely disappointed after watching it after a break of a few years recently.
