mickmep
mine are declared / covered on my house insurance.
PhilR
mine are declared / covered on my house insurance. Mine too, I'm with the NFU and they provide excellent cover. But you need to check the specific terms of cover. My wife was checking this year for comparison quotes and discovered that some insurance companies will insure guns but only in the house, and not elsewhere. One company she phoned checked with their underwriters and they said they're not covered if they were used in competitions, so for a clay shooter that's not a lot of use. P~MX
I'm pretty sure with my home insurance any of my sports items including guns and fishin rods etc are insured upto £1000 but this only insures them at home, whats the best way to get them insured for away from home use ? are they any specif company's who just insure guns ? I assume they are insured by their value ?
Winterwolf
Never even thought about this, will have to check mine when I get home to see if I need to declare anything.

HDAV
Your home policy will have single item limits often £1k or £1.5k anything over that you declare so a £5k gun you declare and will get a slightly higher premium in some circumstances. £120k pair of purdeys are a different matter..... welshwarrior
I'm covered to use my sporting goods but key items must be listed firearms and ski both feel into this catergory no matter what value but it does have a new for old clause. Anyone got a shagged Purdey they don't want

BlaserF3
I am insured with RIAS for £44.86 I am covered for £4500 for items, i.e. shotguns in and away from home. That covers my Blaser for less than a pound a week
Nicky T
did they add much on to your home premium for your guns Nick ? Surprisingly nothing! I pay just under £40/month for building and contents. PM if you want the details of who i use.
mcw65
NFU charged me £45 extra on my house insurance and insured guns for 12000
4eyes
Which insurer? HAlifax were happy to ahve them as "sporting goods" inside and outside upto £1500 each i think with no extra I think. The same with More Than. I asked at renewal and they said so long as not one of them was over 1.5k (the then limit) in value they were already covered inside or outside. However, they did want to up my covered limit to 2k just in case I had more than one with me at any one time (?!?) and any other covered goods that may total over the 1.5k limit. If I recall correctly it was only £15 more on the annual premium to up the limit to 2k. So no massive deal.
BerettaSV10
Mine are listed as individual items on my contents insurance and are covered at home and when out and about, think the first was a extra £10 then no charge for any extra ones I added since then.
