WelshLamb
Have got a bit more done over the last week or so. Hit a major stumbling block... new V8 engine wont fit exisitng gearbox Have sourced a box that will fit, so off to Solihull tomorrow to pick it up! Pic attached, but gearbox is now out too! Have sent the rad away to be re-cored, treated her to new spark plugs and filters, bought all the exhaust bits, choke cable/lever etc Edited January 7, 2012 by WelshLamb
Mattw
Look great! is the orig rad big enough to cope with a v8? the v8 rads are pretty big.... and dirt cheap on ebay e.g. Item number: 290652965187 I have a v8 on straight through with 2x cherrybombs, in a dakar, it probably is too loud for shooting but it is awesome.... good luck with it it looks great so far! matt

WelshLamb
looking good jo ,your getting there,,maybe youll turn up at treetops on time now with the new motor !!!!! I seem to remember that the last time we had a shoot at Treetops it was YOU who was late! Had a roadtrip up to Solihull today to pick up my 'new' box. Had to extricate it from a 4 tonne armoured defender 110... what an absolute pig of a job! Spent all day bench pressing, leg pressing and wresting various bits of land rover, and now I have so many cuts, scrapes and bruises I look like a rape victim oooh and picked up the power steering box and pipes to convert her to PAS system! (posh!) Decided to keep a running tally here of what its costing me to do the conversion, in case anyone else fancies having a go so off the top of my head... Engine & Rad (Also included a spare Rover V8 and all the ancillaries and an induction kit) £460 Radiator Re-core/refurb - £160 Gearbox plus diesel to go get it - £144 Power steering box - £50 TOTAL SO FAR - £814 and Im not even close to starting to bolt it all back together yet! Gratituous '90 out playing' pics
