Very smart Please set my mind at rest - my first reaction is that they are plump mallard duck - I have just plucked some myself and they have a good layer of fat on them; then I had a tiny doubt they were geese but I don't think so.... It is awful when your mind gets confused!

Thunderbird
not a thing the misses likes done in the kitchen  Actually I didn't make too much of a mess. Not sure if this applies to all birds but I kept a bowl of water handy to keep my hands wet and even though the sinks got a bit mucky feathers didn't billow about. Ballymac
Some people put a small amount of meth or similar fluid in a small holder, lid of polish tin etc, and light it and use this to burn off any remaining down etc... Well thats what I was taught.

aister
most of the down can be rubbed off with your thumb when you are plucking then i put meth in a tobacco tin lid and light it then just pass the bird over till all the down is synged. all the synged down is then washed off at the end.
