Its not too hard to get all your 'permishin' to be cleared (or not) anyway.
swiss.tony
bit confusing mate have you fac ticket if so they normal come closed for 1st 5 years but you can ask no harm in asking if you have grounds to open up they might
bedwards1966
You don't need to have held a SGC for any period of time to get a FAC, so there is no reason why you won't get one. Everyone would prefer an open certificate, however different areas have different rules, hopefully someone on here will be able to tell you if they give out open certificates straight away or how long you have to hold a FAC for to get one. If not then you'll just have to get the police to check out and approve each bit of land you want to shoot on.
The Jackson
You might struggle to get an open ticket straight away. They prefer experience. If you've got permission then get it in writing with maps with ou put in your application

welshwarrior
It will all depend on your feo and experience I got an open ticket for 22lr 222 and 308 when I first applied but I have been stalking for 8 year before with estate rifles and an Army RCO and responsible for running sniper ranges and company attacks in Canada and Kenya. They concluded I had experience with centre fire rifles.

The closed ticket is a sort of probationary period for FAC, restricting you to land that has been checked out by the police before you can shoot it.Some gain open tickets in 6 months others in 5 years, alot depends how much ammunition your getting through ( which shows experience).Exceptions are sometimes made as Welshwarrior has stated but its rare and after all Welshwarrior is probably more qualified to use a firearm than any armed officer in our force. ostrea
No chance in N Wales Gwynedd area, seems only way now of getting 223 is for club use initially and after a a while apply to use on land that has been passed by police. I have had my certificate now for 18 months fired 1400 rounds so had a word with FEO a few weeks back and asked him the question about having the conditioned changed, He told me to write a letter to the manager with all my points for opening including a letter from a mate i shoot with who has a open letter gone in and at the moment i am crossing my fingers. blackbird
I asked for a open ticket on my application for a .22 & .17HMR & was told to dream on, I then asked after two years & was given a open ticket but I had to really justify it. I did not get my open ticket from the initial application, it came 6 months later after I wrote to them explaining my situation it might have helped that I had been a serving police officer for 10 years and it wasn't like I was unknown to the FEO Deershooter
