Mike525steel
Come on guys and gals. What is this latest **** from berretta Why would anyone want wood grain that is drawn on I looked at an A400 explor with it on the other week and without even having heard about it noticed it straight away. Does anyone like it and has anyone got one with it on that thinks it looks good? If so show us a picture.... I think that from what I have seen that its a poor attemp at passing off firewood as something better....
BlaserF3
It's nothing new, Beretta has been selling Xtra Wood guns for a few years now.
sitsinhedges
Extra wood and extra grain are two different things. Extra wood is a plastic coating extra grain is where the stocks grain is enhanced to look like it's better than it is. I have a Teknys with extra wood and it's OK, weatherproof if nothing else, but if it got damaged I don't know how I would repair it.
shaun4860
The earlier Technys were "drawn on" grain The A400 as im led to believe is "burnt on" giving a more realistic look As long as you know its not real grain, where is the harm? Ahhh yes it did look burnt on now you come to say Don't you think for a 1500 quid gun you deserve a little better. I mean the one I saw looked like a plank for a stock
shaun4860
Its very rare to get an auto with a nice stock, they dont seem to bother for some reason.
Catweazle
The A400 as im led to believe is "burnt on" giving a more realistic look It's not great, but doesn't jump out at you as fake. I'd prefer a nice carbon look like the Browning.
BlaserF3
I have a very nice lump of wood on a Teknys Gold sporter, which I really want rid of.
Sandbank
I am very good with recycling. I make sure that plastic milk bottles, poly bags etc. go in the right bin. Not sure I am that keen on them being sold back to me as a gun stock, grain or no grain.

I have a 391 with the extra wood and the stock got hit by a pace of clay. I try all the normal ways to get the mark out. I tried steam, hot iron on a damp cloth and the mark would not come out. In the end i had to take it to Jim's in Bath and when it came back it was like new
retromlc
My A400 is a work tool, wood looks good but to me it's just a gun
VicW
I have just bought a Beretta Outlander that has dark wood.It is stained walnut, obviously not top quality, but it is responding well to oiling. Vic.
Harnser
There is a technique available to the gun makers that can enhance any old piece of wood to look like a best English gun stock . Staining and lasers will do wonders to an old lavatory seat . You would be surprised at what gun makers use this piece of technology . They will even copy any other gun stock from a picture . HDAV
Similar to Topcote from Browning/Winchester... IT wont shoot better and the aged trees have not been replanted so sources are drying up and costs increasing, wont make it shoot any better........ P~MX
I've a Browning Maxus grd 3 and I'd easily say it's got the nicest piece of wood I've ever saw on an auto straight off the shelf, this picture gives you an idea of what it's like but it's the only one I have handy
