Pedro
I was looking at taking a mate who's never been clay shooting before, to a ground roughly in between where we both live. Having checked it out a bit more, I see they're charging 27p per clay! I've not been clay shooting for a while, but good god, is everyone charging that??!!! P. Chris Bb
It's average, around here 25p - 30p per clay at commercial grounds is the norm. Join a club and it reduces to 20p per clay but make sure that you shoot enough each year to make membership worthwhile.
bedwards1966
The commercial grounds are expensive, after all they are at it for profit and must put a lot of money into making the places nice. I prefer to shoot at small clubs, for example I go to one every Sunday, it costs £40 year membership and the clays then work out at 14p each, I'd hate to have to pay such high prices at these big shoots. If you aren't looking for somewhere with loads of different stands available to shoot every day of the week you can sometimes find shoots, often not far away, that are small, cheap and friendly - but not usually well advertised, they often don't seem to have heard of this thing called the 'internet'. cant hit rabbits 123
The small rural clubs are much cheaper than the big grounds.
Vipa
try and shoot once a month... 100 sporting plus shells.......... £49!!!! hence the reason I restrict it to once a month..
Penfolio
Aye, prices in these parts are around the 25-27p/clay mark. Slightly cheaper at the straw bale clubs but, only by a few pence.

shaun4860
our club charges £9 for 50 non members, £6 for 50 members. CPSA Premier ground locally charge £6 for 25.
TrapFiller
20p a clay at my local ground. £10 for 50 birds £5 for skeet, DTL and Compak. £1 off for every member no matter what you shot. Doesn't matter to me, staff get free shooting. :D
P~MX
here in Norn Iron at smaller 50 bird shoots we pay £9 for 50 birds and some clubs pay prize money outta that, at our 100 bird reg shoots we pay £25 - we are continually reminded that we have the cheapest shooting in UK but we pay for that ourselves by marking and reffin our own squads through, and believe me when you shoot in a squad of 6-8 men the reffin is much tighter than havin one neutral ref who could be bullied ! Tod
Shoot at local small clubs, only about 10 pence a clay and better banter, the big commercial ones have no atmosphere about them, :look:
Northern Gunner
Shoot at local small clubs, only about 10 pence a clay and better banter, the big commercial ones have no atmosphere about them, :look: Ten pence a clay is really cheap. Rabbit clays cost nearly that to buy in bulk and once you get ground rent and insurance it wont leave any profit at all for any trap repairs and other overheads that the ground will have to pay. :hmm:

I know one small club where a 50 bird sporting layout, over 5 stands costs £7, buy a second round and I think it's £5. What's that, 13p per clay? They use old traps, the farmer isn't using that bit of woodland and is happy for a shoot to be held there as he shoots there, it's a winner all round. It clearly has some profit available as it keeps getting improved in small ways. Oh, no membership cost either. phil moss
You must realise that commercially run grounds are a business & not a non profit making club. Business rates, insurance, ground staff all go to the costs per clay price !!!
