hawkeye
Why when i PM a member a link to another forum so as not to post it in this forum why does that link come up as garbage. I thought PM stood for personal message seems even them are not allowed.

henry d
Check out the forum rules http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...?act=boardrules and all will become apparent, that and the new forum will scramble it as you type. This is what you should remember "No promoting of other competing sites either in the forum, chat room or private message system. Repeated offenses will lead to membership suspension. In the event of recieving such spam messages, please report the incedent to a member of the moderating team. "

Yes Henry i agree it does it if you try to post on open site but why does it do it in private messages thats what im getting at seems daft to me when you can put them in your profile without any bother.// PS i might be wrong but seem to remember a link where people were told to use the PM for things like this by the moderators have i got this wrong if so will try to remember not to send PM. plexer
Sorry but we're not allowed to increase members opinions and wealth of knowledge by talking about and sharing other forums to do with our sport? I can understand other suppliers that don't pay for advertising space but other forums does seem a bit daft. I didn't realise PW was such an exclusive members club. neilbe2
I like this site, but the rules are getting worse. I dont see why you cant say or type whatever you want through the PM system Ive read a lot of threads on other shooting forums of members who no longer use this site, due to the strict and quite pointless rules that you impose. Now im not saying that rules shouldnt be there, but you should lighten up a bit and dont be so concerned about "competition" Its a decent forum you have here, dont spoil it! new to the flock
The rules have always been in place, and it has not been a problem in the past. If you want to send someone an address to another site via pm just leave off the http: and type the name. The person can then add it into his address bar. This forum has been set up so that kids can be on it with out a lot of fear of bad language, or links to sites that may offend. I for one like the way this site is ran and would not like to see it changed. NTTF

henry d
So shall we go back to porno links and flame wars ?? or stick to the rules ?? you all have agreed to abide by them or you wouldn`t be here. I don`t make the rules I am here to make sure they are taken on board and for no reward other than putting something back into the sport I love. If we show that obscene, profane or abusive posts are to be tolerated then we descend to a base level. The mods/admin allow a bit of slack with Friday jokes etc. but remember that we are here for your protection,no matter what your age/race/religion/sex......... Anyone want to take it on ?? the last engineer
i must agrre with Henry and NTTF, the rules are there for a reason, i dont have a problem with them, i think it stops most of the mindless nonsence you see ruin other forums. No we shouldnt go back to porno links and flame wars. I am sure you could do something with the other mods about the rules, most of the members are saying they dont mind swearing in jokes ect. We only want abit of freedom, to not get told of for a swear word, to send are m8s a link to another forum ect ect. Maybe i wont visit this forum anymore, not like anyone is bothered anyway, but if i feel this way about this forum, im sure many others will. Or maybe i am wrong about the whole thing. delete me if you must henry, i seriously dont care.
plexer
Yes ok we know what the rules currently are but they were changed recently to allow people to mention other products and to enable us to engage in a conversation about what we like and don't like which I think is fair. But the suggestions that you can get around sending of links etc... by leaving of www is a circumvention of the rules anyway. If there is say a really good forum that has lots of information on .17hmr's or something what's so wrong about giving someone a link to it? Thats not to say we want porno links etc... but if it relates to our sport wheres the harm? If you want some more mods to help out then thats fine I'm sure the site owners would deputise some new ones for you. Ben
the pelt man
Reading this is like reading the threads on speed Camaras. When you took your test you agreed to go by the rules if you didn't you wouldn't have been given a licence. So don't complain & get on with it if you brake the rules you loose your licence. The same with the PW Forum, them the rules don't like um then close the door on your way out. Maybe the rules aren't right BUT i agreed to go by them, the last thing i'd want as a mod is Members keep complaining about the rules when they now fully what they are. Axe
Funny how 'mods' are always to blame, they are only enforcing the rules not creating them. If I were to give an opinion on this subject it would be: I don't see why PM's have to be 'censored' but on the open forum, the rules are just fine. But since i'm not going to give an opinion, i'll just keep my mouth shut.

"No promoting of other competing sites either in the forum, chat room or private message system" And how do you know they have repeated offended ? the last engineer
would this be like saying any imigrunt coming to the country can do as they like then, and not abide by the rule's , an extreme i know but the pattern is there, the fact that this topic is ongoing is testament to the mods tolerence dont you think . plexer
I ain't saying the mods are doing anything wrong and all the comparisons to driving licence and immigrants are a bit much we are talking about an internet web forum where the members seem to get on very well. We are allowed to suggest additions to the categories but not the rules that have allready been changed recently so they are not set in stone as some of you seem to suggest. hawkeye
PELTMAN For your information I know what the rules are I have read them…….. If you are having a dig at me mate just read the thread properly nowhere was I getting at the MODS. I aren’t going to ****** off as you put it if I have a question for the Mods I will ask so take your own advice. And for you and stuartp’s information I think the mods do a good job sorting the **** out on the open forum…….. I agree with axe’s statement why mod on personal messages. Jonno 357 quote Moderators on the forum have said in the past if you want to send competitor links of site sponsors etc to each other, we have been told to use the PM system because posting on the forum contravenes house rules That is why I asked the question in the first place so have the rules changed again since that was posted.. The person can then add it into his address bar. But will this not be against the rules as Plexer stated But the suggestions that you can get around sending of links etc...
