Greetings from Chesterfield

Recommended Posts

Good evening,

I'm David and only recently started to try out the sport and really like it. I've got my SGC in with Derbyshire police for about a month now - how long does it usually take before they come make a visit?

Also, are there any friendly clay grounds in north east derbyshire/south yorkshire? I went to Lowes Lane in Newark which was great, but about an hour each way so was looking for something closer - also tried the site around Premier Guns.

Finally, last question - should I treat my first gun as a learning experience - something which fits relatively well and get use to lead and so on before thinking about buying a more expensive gun? And should I be looking at a newer turkish or an older european/japanese make as a first gun? Lowes Lane and Premier Guns both suggested a 525 but they're a bit of an expensive outlay before I know if I could be any good at it! I'm going to have a chat with Euroguns tomorrow to see their take on it.

Anyone got a 4/5 gun cabinet they want to sell me relatively cheaply?

Thanks, sorry about all the questions,

Dave

Hello Dave,

Look up the list below;

Amber Valley Shooting Club

Copper Beeches Shooting Ground

Darley Dale Clay Pigeon Shooting Club

Nottingham & District Gun Club

I hear Derbyshire are quite busy and are running at about 2 months turnaround.

Have a look in Neville's in Alfreton. Probably best to go for a budget of about 500 until you're sure you want to take it further.

Thanks guys for the welcomes and suggestions. Having been to a few shops now I think I'm going to go for a cheapish lanber which fits, and then use the rest on lessons. I spoke to Derbyshire Police on Friday and they were running mid Feb applications so it may be some time yet. But, my gun cabinet arrives tomorrow or tuesday so at least that will be in place.

Cheers, will check out some of the locations suggested.
