Tim_D
Hi everyone, I just called Bedfordshire Police Firearms Licensing to see how my application is going and was told that they are still waiting for the (external Agency) files / checks to come back but to get one of the hurdles out of the way, could I go in and see them tommorrow... I was told they are 'office bound' at the moment. Anyone else had to do this - any advice? I'm wondering if this is instead of coming out to see me, but they can't exactly look at my safe or permission from that distance... A bright idea I've had - using Google Earth I can get an aeriel photo of my shooting permission which I can print off and outline which may help. Tim_D
Right...no I'm not locked up! Had a load of general questions "to get to know me" followed by specific questions about why I wanted the rifle, how I would shoot, where I would shoot, different scenarios etc and had I considered a .17HMR. To be fair the guy was a great guy, had loads of experience and was doing his job very very well. To sum up, he wanted me to keep away from the public as much as possible (my permission is next to an open busy road) and 'out of sight, out of mind', good justification for wanting the specific items (moderator, subsonic ammunition, .22 RF) and that I wasn't doing this on a whim. I took photos in of my safe and my permission (printed from Google Earth) and had a few other bits of info for him. He was impressed that I had done my research and had good justification and told me he'd have no problem giving me a license. Wwwwwhhoop!! I then added another gun to the application (.25 air rifle) and thanked him very much! One of his team will visit to check the Safe next week then I'm there. Tim_D
Glad to hear it,you can now drop the soap in the shower and not be afraid to pick it up Hmmm... I'm now sorted, had a visit to check the safe and was handed my certificate. He was a really sound guy - he said he could put me down for 5 guns if he could check the downstairs out for window and (5 lever) door locks. He hesitated when he saw the conservatory windows which aren't locking but I told him about my burglar alarm and auto-dialer and he said fine and put down 5 guns... So... I'm pleased to say I'm going shopping tommorrow for a nice shiney CZ!
