smig4373
It wasnt just the Torch itself...As said before..it was all day,The local playing fields had bands on,stalls rides etc...Lots of people milling about,Pub beer gardens full everywhere..Excellent party atmosphere.and a good time had by all... Maybe you should get out more from behind your keyboard....Or have you lot forgot how to smile...Miserable *******. :D i have to admit i have no interest in the olypics or the torch an event you have to have surface to air missiles to protect is not an event i want to attend lol What a load of rubbish...There in London to protect the games themselves...Not the torch relay... BAND WAGON...quick...jump on...
smig4373
Well now we can see what we are all missing. Yeah...a whole town enjoying themselves for once..In a town thats got one of the worst prospects for unemployment and economic growth in the country,to see everybody out smiling and having a good time makes a pleasant change...i wouldnt have cared if it was a fat man running past with a clipper lighter...It was the whole thing that made it worth while to walk the 5 yrds to see it...... :good:

I can see why children might see it as a day out. Probably just me someone walking down the street carrying a torch doesn't do it for me. I can't remember what i was moaning last night but i am sure i had a moan about something. PS their is a game fare here in Moira next week i will probably make an effort to go to that and moan about the price to get in. As long as Hugo Duncan isn't there if he is i might have to jump in front of a bus.

daz2202
There is a story going around that the Beckhams have commandeered a large hotel at St Ives as he and his family are staying there. The story goes that there was a wedding booked and dear David not only paid for another venue but also paid of the neewbie couple's mortgage. Nice. This is an old story that did actually happen in Kent last year for the golf tournament in sandwich. It was actually for posh's parents but the becks wrote the cheque. It was big news here and in all the papers,

Not sure how much truth there is in this as Beckham played for LA Galaxy on Saturday and he did have to fly back as well, i know some people consider him superhuman but i am not sure he could even do that. southeastpete
im going to go and see it, im going to take the stepson too. He'll probably whine and complain, but will remember it and tell people in years to come. Not a massive thing, but its like I appreciate going to London to see the fireworks for the millenium. NOT exciting OR enjoyable...what was i thinking... :P Click below to view I think you are being oversensitive about this flame and taking it too seriously. I am pleased you had a good time but like democracy allows, it wasnt and isnt for me. Do you remember the eclipse back in 2000? gemini52
Agreed the Olympics won't help Merseyside. The only thing that would would be a nuclear warhead. Tosspot :yp:

spanj
Yep, voluntering at the relay locally. Re the waste of money I'm sure all the folk who have been working on the Stratford site to name but one, all the suppliers involved in the developments etc would beg to differ! There will also be money in it for hotels, shops restaurants etc! But the best outcome will be the sporting legacy and the inspired youngsters! I'm sure some on here have had work from the games so come on let's have your stories! Too many whingers on here! Blah Diamond Jubilee blah Olympics blah blah blah Lampy Lets hope they dont inspire too many shooters then cos there'll be **** all of a sporting legacy left after that particluar event ends blah blah blah
spanj
Rupert. I agree ..... Will do nothing to help Merseyside either..... Seb Coe ( Creep ) never as good a runner as ...Steve Ovett. But a brilliant brown noser and bent as a nine bob note (financially I mean). Lord Coe my ****
