Lord Geordie
Wow what cracking walk i have just had. Took a walk to my Parents house over the old school fields and down past the embankments of the A1. Not a bad walk actually but better today. I take it the rain has helped a few things grow. On the field i noticed a few Mushrooms so went to look. Gave them a peel to make sure they weren't just toadstools and WAHEY It's been over 10 years since mushrooms were growing on the field last. In all between the field and my mums i got about a pound of mushrooms and when i got to my mums my dad gave me one of his garlic bulbs he was growing and a load of tomato's. I also have some Onion grass i collected earlier in the year in the freezer (find it near streams) you can't miss the smell it has small white flowers on it. Great as a flavour giver for soups and stir fries and FREE So that with the Pigeon breasts i have in the freezer are gonna make me a RATHER nice meal tonight. Pan fried pigeon in a tomato and garlic sauce with garlic and onion grass sauted mushrooms B) All this was free and thats a price that can't be beaten. I also got some home grown jalepino chille's my mate has been growing so i am gonna make a Chille con carne with pigeon and rabbit mince again using mostly free ingredients. Will make that for tea tomorrow i think and invite the folks over for tea. Kinda makes up for the poor days shooting i had at the club i was only getting 19 for 25 tops so came home early. Ah well off to cook my pigeon :o LG

Lord Geordie
aubergine should ONLY be used in mousaka As for the tomato and garlic sauce thats fine i will make a batch up just for you and i will keep the pigeon for another dish. Pigeon burgers or Sausages perhaps. Curried Pigeon (even better) As for the Chille's!! Scafs loss they are like mini nuclear bombs LG

pin
Burgers, made out of vegetables? Am I hearing you right? That'll never catch on.
darebear
ya know what pin? you're a sharp cookie. the vegi burgers made out of vegetables arent very popular. they fall to pieces when you are trying to cook them. the ones made out of soya or quorn are the best. ~smug grin~
pin
Mrs Pin is a veggie, and I suppose I am half veggie by association. I often can't be ***** making 2 of everything just to eat meat for the sake of it, so I tend to eat a lot of veggie stuff (mrs pin doesn't do the cooking). Most veggie burgers are useless and fall apart, Sainsbury veggie quaterpounders are the only exception I know of Can't beat the cajun pigeon pittas I just had off the george formby grill, though

Lord Geordie
The BIGGEST hypocrisy about vegetarians is the food they eat!! WHY do a people SO apposed to eating meat MAKE food to resemble the thing they detest the most?? Vegy Bacon Soya Mince Quorn chicken It begs the question don't it??? Also the MAIN argument for Vegi people is OMG that poor creature had to die so that we may eat. Get a grip Vegetables are Living Breathing things you kill THOSE to eat them and lets get this into perspective too! These Fresh veg like cabage from the green grocers are STILL alive when you cut them up (poor things) and you even BOIL them alive. OMG i am gonna become a non veg eating person it's MORE cruel for veg than it is for the meat as least we don't cook THAT alive do we LG

Lord Geordie
Good mushrooms around this year, puffballs and regular field mushrooms fantastic Funny how about 99% of people beleive puffballs are poisonous Best picked young before they get to golfball size Ink caps are also edible BUT PLEASE if you are in ANY doubt about what your picking please don't try unless you are 100% sure it's edible. Down South
My pal on our little shoot is a chef in a top London gentlemans club, they love eating game and real solid food there. My pal is always filling bags with all sorts of goodies to take back and cook. Saw an interesting bumper sticker on the M25 a couple of weeks ago," Save a cow; eat a vegitarian." well it made me chuckle!
darebear
main reason im vegi? dont like the taste of meat or fish. never really did. there are a lot of us vegetarians who have no intentions of trying to convert people, or bang on about not eating meat. its just personal choice. i dont even look upon it as an issue. i cook meat for other people, just choose not to eat it. and yer argument LG about why vegetarians have burger and sausage shaped 'alternatives', has a lot to do with convenience. are you saying we should ensure our vegetarian foods are triangular shape so as not to confuse them with a meat burger or sausage? why shouldnt i be entitled to eat round pieces of cardboard losely termed 'vegi' burger, if im at a bbq? and fyi, the head deer stalker for the national park, is a vegetarian. some of us are actually rather kewl people. Did you see come dine with me the other week when the Vegi just wouldn't shut her trap about vegi foods and was banging on and on about EVERYONE could easily become a vegi blah blah ( she really got on my goat) pun intended!! Second i can see PART of your argument about SHAPES but i was ALSO refering to them going to the far reaches by making your (cardboard) TASTE like the meat it resembles. I am not meaning to offend you by the way it was just an observation LG
darebear
nope. didnt see it. prolly wouldnt watch it because she'd just annoy me. and fyi, i prepared all the meat for the bbq this weekend. and scaffy burned it muahahahahahahahahahahahaha. only joking. honest! and no crows breast this time mike
