Farmer-of-the-Futre
Hey all, im back on guntrader most nights again looking at semi autos Cant help myself! I have been reccomended a second hand beretta rather than a new escort which seems fair. What do you guys think of them? If i do get one i dont want to spend too much. Definatley no more that £400, preferably nearer £300. I dont want to splash out as its only for pigeons, rought shooting etc. and i dont want to spend loads on a classy over and under while im still growing! Ive been looking at the 302 models (and similar ones) and quite like the look of them. Will they cycle both light and heavier loads? i might want to do some clay bashing with it and you never know, we might get a few more foxes about, so i want something that will handle a variety of sizes and weights. However, Im not set on a beretta, a friend of mine has a remington 1100 and gets on very well with it. Any other makes and models will be considered, just want to get a feel for what you guys think of them Cheers, Matt

chrispti
My advice would be, dont bother, spend your money on cartridges and stick with you SP1.

Wildfowler12
You won't go wrong with any of the Beretta a301/302/303 my 302 will cycle from 24g upwards. I've never tried anything smaller, but I wouldn't be surprised if it cycled 21g too Edited August 1, 2012 by Wildfowler12

TrapFiller
If you want to go fox bashing make sure you don't use a 3 or 3 1/2 inch cartridge in the gun.
Rimfireboy
Beretta autos are great. Don't think you'll go wrong with one of them.
hawkfanz
i use a o/u browning, but my a300 sa is better for pigeons especially if firing a lot of shells,no recoil and is easier to use especially in the new one man pop up hides.get 301/2/3 thats in your price range.good luck with it. Scully
Have just been out with a mates A-301.No idea how old it is but it functions flawlessly, uncomplicated and handles superbly.
-Mongrel-
I used and will use again this year a 301 for wildfowling, flawless! Downside is the chamber size. You can't put 3" cartridges through it which can be a pain for fowling, but for pigeons it'd be spot on I'd reckon, not that I've ever had the chance to find out but...it's one of the reasons I haven't sold it. I live in hope!
