What type of battery charger do you use for your magnet batterys .

I use a 17amp/hr battery and have been using a 800mA charger from the auction site , trouble is they are chinese **** and i have got through 2 or 3 in a matter of a few months .

So I decided to get a better quality one and brought a oxford oximiser 601 , this sounded perfect , but after putting the battery on charge I went to use it 24 hrs later and it was still half flat , as I often shoot two or so days in a four day period thats not much use to me .

It may not be totally ideal, but i've been using a Halfords car battery charger for the last few years. I have 20ah batteries and they take a fair few hours to charge.I set the Halfords charger to the 'sealed' and 'bike' battery settings. This works for me and i've had no problems with my batteries.

I'm in the same situation, my second Chinese charger as packed up (melted funtion switch on both) so I'm getting a car battery charger as I've been using a neighbours for a week and it seems to do the job well, although the battery gets pretty warm after 24 hours.

I dont recommend you use a car charger it kills the smaller batterys in no time , learn from my mistakes :eh:

i use a datatool motorcycle trickle charger, spot on, i too use a 17amp battery and it chargers it overnight without damaging it, optimel also do one for about 30 quid.

The oxford oximiser I brought is a motorbike battery trickle charger , just its a ****** slow trickle if it takes 42 hrs to charge a 17amp hr battery !!.

mine doesnt take 42 hours fella, i can use my battery for about 8 hours and it will charge back up overnight, also when its charged it will just maintain the battery so you can leave it permanantly connected without damage, also knows if its a dry cell or acid battery.
