British Open - Fauxdelda

Badly wind affected.

Lack of variety - no driven, no overheads, no rabbits - lots of quartering. Expect more difference with 120 birds though I appreciate ground can be challenging.

Huge variety in targets through day due to wind.

Over 4 hours to shoot 120 birds!?! - lost the will to live!

Comments from refs on 3 separate stands about H&S when loading traps etc - first time I've seen that at any competition.

By the time we got back to clubhouse (17:30) out of burgers, and onions, and roast pork...

Everyone would say Fauxdegla is a windy site - my personal view is that makes the ground inappropriate for a 4 day competition but even without that the 4 hour shooting time and target variety (which i believe was based on trying to overcome the style of ground) let this down a bit for me.

Have you ever tried rolling a rabbit clay through heather? I also wouldn't fancy driven targets - especially if I'm sat outside the clubhouse or my car is parked below. :|

As I put - challenges of the ground. Maybe this wasn't the right ground to hold the shoot at? Just my opinion - I think for a British open every style of target possible should be thrown.

It's very much a personal opinion though. Probably just peeved having stood up on that hill 2 hours longer than promised :-)

Had a great time today. Weather was ok, targets presented something for everyone although I agree that, due to the local topography certain types of presentation were missing, but overall a really enjoyable shoot. We went round in about 3 hours and everything ran smoothly. I think Mike and Debbie Faux put on a good show and should be congratulated

I thought that it was a very good course, Fauxdegla should be congratulated on how they presented the ground and the shoot. I shot absolutely dreadfully, but there was nothing wrong with the targets, just my health. But I am not complaining one bit. The only reason it would have taken 4 & 1/2 hours would have been due to the shear numbers shooting. It very often takes 3 hours plus at a National or International. There was enough variety of targets, what was stand 14 if not driven? admittedly not over head but hardly crossers either, second bird stand 12? driven downhill. No wonder the Aussies call us " whinging Poms".
