Will Poon
I'm after another pump action , the Remington 870 is the next to fill my cabinet I think ,I've been looking around for one and I've noticed there's quite a few variants if the 870 , are they all the same action but with different woodwork and stuff, any advice and info would be appreciated thanks
TrapFiller
There's the express the economy version so to speak and then there the wingmaster which has upgraded wood and looks nicer in my opinion. Not sure of the price difference from new. Edgar brothers import them so ask your RFD about contacting them.
ChAoS
If I was you, I'd look for an old Wingmaster. Regards, Mark.
coyotemaster
Good advice, the older Remingtons are without doubt better built and nicer wood. I am not sure you can wear an 870 out anyway.
humperdingle
There's a video on Youtube of a guy testing the "20 bore cart in front of a 12 bore", dangerous scenario. The old Remmy 870's barrel blew out of the action with the immense pressure, but was put back together no problem... Tough guns indeed. I had an old 870 Wingmaster for a bit... Shouldn't have sold it really

andy198712
I love my wingmaster! It's older then me but silky smooth and looks mint, just a joy to use! Easy to strip and clean and well designed! Can't go wrong!
Will Poon
Just got hold of a Remington 870 Wingmaster today, not a bad price but the bluing seems abit thin on some places especially around the receiver and the muzzle , should I leave it and enjoy it or go for a DIY bluing kit or give it to a pro to reblue the whole gun ?? Will Poon
Yes my thoughts as well mr smith, as its one of my fun guns on the shooting ground ( not politically correct , I know ) Edited October 30, 2012 by Willpoon
humperdingle
You could tart it up with a reblue, but would you be so keen to use it as much? They look better with a bit of wear
welshwarrior
If you want to reblue it try Richard h he is meant to be the man and very reasonable. I'd leave it alone tho
matone
Leave it,that`s what gives a gun character for my money! I`m much more inclined to by guns (or anything for that matter) that hav`n`t been `done up`.
Harnser
The Remington 870 wingmaster is proberbly the best trombone gun ever made . I have had a couple over the years and they are faultless . Harnser .

Will Poon
I might be customising this shottie as a mate of mine is coming over from America and he's bringing with him some aftermarket parts for the Remington
