Peskyfoxs
First fox with my own rifle !! Went to a friends farm last night for a look around as he had seen a few foxs, spotted this vixen and after about 10 minutes of squeaking I managed to get a clear safe shot. She was shot at about 140 yards with a 58grn V max in .243 and went down like a sack of spuds. Edited October 31, 2012 by Peskyfoxs

Peskyfoxs
Cheers everyone, It is a howa 1500 and I was using Norma 58grn v max, I have just tried some homeloads this weekend with 75grn vmax and they work well

Peskyfoxs
I was slightly surprised about the exit hole, hit in chest and hand span exit hole just behind the neck. Very humane !

al4x
Nice start to a new rifle The 75's are one of the best fox bullets out there with 37 grains of varget its an awesome round. We keep getting told by someone on here they stopped production years ago but you still get them round here and I can't really see why they would stop as they seem to be pretty much the optimum weight for most .243's certainly I get sub 2" groups at 300 yards which will do for any fox I shoot at
Peskyfoxs
I have just got a good deal on some Hornaby 58 grains factory ammo so will use them and then switch to 75 grain v max reloads as my Howa on;y seems to like £30 a box ammo
al4x
You can also get the 58's off the shelf for reloading, I got some to experiment last time out as for some random reason only known to my local rip off merchant sorry gunshop they were half the price of the 75's
Peskyfoxs
The price of the 75's was fairly low so I will probabaly reload with them, I'm new to reloading but I understand the 75's are not as hot as the 58's so will stick to 75's as they are both accurate
