SuperGoose75
Sorry to hear Finn' has gone Alan. I used to love reading of His and your Exploits after Fowl in The " I S D "..!! He had a long and active life and I dont think a dog can have a better life than one that is Spent with a Active Fowler/Shooting man. Im sure you will always have Found Memories that will never fade. Big Al
Sincere thanks guys. He was a shadow of himself in his glory days when he went but while the body was weak the mind was always willing. He had a long and active life and I dont think a dog can have a better life than one that is Spent with a Active Fowler/Shooting man. Very true. But we are biased! Really sorry Big Al to hear your partnership with Finn have finally came to a end , 15 years old is a very good age and I am sure Finn couldn't have wished for a better person to have spent his life with. Well done Paul , hope you all have a long and happy relationship, and your days out shooting will once more be a perfect combination of man and dog. kent
Just read this thread and looking through the post dates I suppose I was ready for the reason of revival, the dog made a good age and worked a lot longer than most fowlers dogs- to top this you chose the right times to retire her and to keep the promise we all must make when we get a new dog " a good ending" 15 years stands as testimony of how the dog was cared for
Big Al
Thanks again for your kind replies. The link between wildfowlers and their dogs is one only fully understood by other wildfowlers.

Fal
Sorry to hear about Finn! I had to take a week off work when I had my last dog put to sleep, we know as owners when the time is right, and we owe it to them to be brave and make the right decision for them. It sounds to me like he's had a good life, and a dignified end the sign of a very respectful and responsible owner. ATB Rhodri

guzzicat
I agree about fowlers bonding with their dogs, perhaps it is the hours spent with only each other for company but a dog is the perfect fowling companion.

Big Al
The hardest part of owning a dog is when the time come to part company , and if anything, the older you get the harder it gets . True. But I know he had a full and active life. Finns predecessor died at 5 years old and in his prime. I found that more severe as I knew he had so much more living to do. As we all know, it's never easy though.
