chrisjpainter
So, I finally have my birthday present (to myself)! I picked up this mint .22 Air Ranger from Silent Kill today! It was a pleasure to meet both him and his mad Sprocker. Anyone doing business with him will not be disappointed The Mamba's on it now and I'm aching for the weekend to come so I can go out and have a proper field test! Sadly though there is a problem. The one downside is I might have to buy a new gun slip. It seems the Queen and overlord of the house has found a much better use for it than my selfish attempt to use it to hold my daystate... In all though, so happy with it and can't wait to give it a whirl! Been wanting one of these for ages, and for once, it's not a case of never meet your heroes! AMAZING. chrisjpainter
fantastic rifle,,and stunning looks, defo the next one on my list but i also like the wolverine ,,enjoy your shooting with it,,is it sub 12 or FAC Sub 12. I don't have an FAC, but if I did, at least I know I'd have a gun that would happily take the conversion. The S510 is a great gun, but if you upgrade it without the new cylinder, shot count drops to about 25-30!

fishingtex
I've got the F.A.C version at 40lbs. Its brilliant, pellet on pellet at 40-50 metres. I get 50 shots out of a charge using full power, but it's best set at 35lbs then I get 7shots out of a fill. Only down side it's a bit heavy for walking around with all day, but laid up with bipod it's fantastic well worth the money.

Little Devil
Can anyone knowledgeable assist please. I've got a daystate air ranger too and wont to mount a bipod on the gun. I've already got Dr Bobs adaptor which goes around the 500cc buddy bottle but which Harris bipod fits onto this? I need quite a tall one as mine is on a fire arms ( and its great). Any help appreciated.

Little Devil
Accuracy with my daystate is fantastic, knocking out bunnies at 90m -dead, it's great, best bit of kit I've ad in a long time. Also got a weihrauch hw100s for my lad, he's just started to shot. I quite like this too, very accurate, set the sight and knocking out 5p pieces at 45 yards with consistency. All you do is fix the buddy bottle clamp onto the gun with the stud on the underneath and then screw in the bipod. I don't think you need any special adapter for any of the harris bipods. turbo33
Little devil, get yourself a deben tilt as opposed to a fixed. Worth the slightly extra pennies and a lot cheaper than Harris. I have a 9-13 which I find perfect for me. Item no 220286902940 on flee bay. Look around, you might find it cheaper elsewhere. The fixed ones are ok, but you are never on dead level ground so not ideal. Hope this helps. Edited November 17, 2012 by turbo33

Makes you wonder why anyone ever bothers with a .22lr, especially as most zero at around 50-60 Yards! What power is yours? Little Devil
40lbs, did wonder if I needed more as where I shoot distance is key. I had been shooting with my 12 bore but could not get close enough, dropped down to no4's but found every rabbit in neighbouring fields disappeared with the "boom" as I'm in a large valley. Started to take on old springer 12lbs foot with a gillie suite on....stalking...hadn't done that in a while. Strangely I did have some success but felt again that distance and noise was key. So priced up a few but the name Daystate seemed to be the one to get. Took me about 6 months to get my firearms too as they were keen to walk the farms where I shoot. Luckily the farmers were as good as gold and all three farms were signed off for my gun. I've had it about 18 months now, with the bigger pellets I get about 24 very accurate shots at great distance, then I feel accuracy drops off a bit, but where I shoot the odds on getting 22 bunnies is but a dream. I am however finding that if I miss the bunny, he will sit there and let me have another go! I've also shot and killed one to find his mate doesn't run off, just lifts up on back legs to look around- so gives me a chance to take him out too. bruno22rf
Am I missing something?,dont get me wrong-I love using my Airgun for bunnies etc but if they are wary and need taking at anything over 50 yards then a second hand CZ .22lr will do it all day long for under £200,with at least twice the power and, with a mod fitted, just as,if not more, quietly than an Airgun. With a 40gr hollow point sub sonic theres also less consideration needed windage wise.I simply dont see the point in spending Daystate kinda money ? Little Devil
Unless of course u love Daystate.... Plus u got amo costs, pellet costs are minimal, couple friends got rimfire's, there nice but even with a silencer there noise level is still far higher than the air gun. He always complains about bullet costs too, I like his gun..but he likes mine too. Personal preference is a wonderfull thing.
Little Devil
Daystate hold there money too, not that I'm planning to sell, this gun should last me a very long time. My only complaint is the weight, by the time I walk the perimeter of the farm (which is about 2 miles) I'm finding it difficult to get a decent shot as my arms are getting tired- hence a nice bipod. If he's finding .22 rimfire bullets expensive he probably can't afford a daystate.

I understand your point Buno, but sometimes its not about the money for some. The beauty of our sport is you can do it as cheap as chips, use and treat your guns as tools as no more. Alernatively if you can buy some of the higher end guns then why not. Yup a .22rf is a great tool and cheap to obtain, I have a cz, bit rural, but can't fault it. As you say twice the power etc ect. I have recently ditched the ghastly, over rated, air guzzling tractor of a rifle called a rapid FAC, and bought an Airwolf. It is a completely different shooting experience. Its the difference between corrugated iron and gold. It has advantages over the .22rf. There's something special about owning and using one of these and until you do, I can understand anyone not seeing the point. You only have to look at the posts by people who own them to see the feedback.
