BASC and other shooting body representatives, your attention please.

A Mr Dennis Webb, esteemed clay shooter and suthsayer has proclaimed that the shooting organisations are involved in what I can only surmise as a plot with the government and the police to make major changes shooting sports in this country. After being asked, Mr Webb told us to contact you directly about the issue, as he cannot talk about it. Well, here it is for all to see, are there or are there not plans a foot to radically change shooting in this country in any way?

Just been reading dennis webbs posts and i hope to god its all hearsay, us shooters have some serious work to do and i think we need to stand firm and make it absoloutely clear that we will accept no further legislation restricting guns or ammunition or sport shooting Emailing BASC as a matter of urgency now.

I have no idea at all what Dennis is on about! There are no plans at all to change firearms laws.

Dennis posted this:

Fortunately moves are afoot nationally to devise a workable system that will deal with many of my proposals in the E Petition, a working party is in hand to bring in better and safer controls in the licence applications and management of the sport, i'm sure David from BASC can expand, but its to bring us in line with Countries like Germany, where you have to sit an exam and take lessons before granting a gun licence. Only today i spoke to one the top gunshops owners in the country who told me that someone came into his shop and had bought 2 rifles and a shotgun and then asked where he could have lesson.......This is an intollerable situation in this sport, where you can just walk in and buy a gun with no level of competance.......Pump action shotguns have no place in this sport and should be banned, they were bought out for a specific purpose and thats not clayshooting, auto's are bad enough, i forget how many discharges i have seen and jamb ups, and see the shooter turn round assuring everyone that the gun is clear only to see a cartridge pop out.

I can assure you all there are absolutely no plans at all to bring in any form of testing or shooting exam

The main thing BASC is doing right now is targeting the poorer performing licensing teams and trying to work with them to improve their service.

There is, of course, law commission review of wildlife laws – more info here: http://www.basc.org....9556A47C2F5E865

I have no idea at all why Dennis has come up with this silly statement.

It sounds to me the this guy Dennis is not a huge fan of anything other than either clay or target shooting if thats his oppinion on "Pump action or Semi auto shot guns"

As for obtaining rifles without having prior knowledge or any experience of shooting one i find quiet hard to believe after the interview with his FEO.

I guess would be this petition right here, with the astonishing total of three signatures! - http://epetitions.di...petitions/38006

Yeah i know his type all too well. Just another state worshipping troll, willing to sacrifice one sub-section of shooting that he personally doesn't like and put forward suggestions for further draconian restrictions, all in a bid to appease his lawmaking "gods", in the hopes that they will leave his own little corner of the sport alone. Its handguns and semi-autos all over again.

Frankly its pathetic, and i would go as far as saying that its cantankerous, fuddy duddies in the shooting community like Dennis Webb who actually pose a greater threat to the survival of gun ownership and shooting than the anti's do.
