Paddy Galore!
for that money you can have a new sxp, i've been on the lookout for a 2nd hand browning for similar money.

Wildfowler12
As has been said, with that budget I'd get a new SXP
JONAH898
Hatsan marine pump lovley gun had mine a cupple of months and not missed a beat
BangBangNik
I treated myself to a new sxp a few months back for decoying etc and I love it. A very nice gun for the money
bicykillgaz
I've got a 20g hatsan pump and absolutely love it I really can't fault it, however if I had the choice between a shiny new hatsan or a shiny new sxp I'd go for the Winchester. bedwards1966
I've a Hatsan pump and can't fault it. It gets a few comments about it being a Hatsan, yet when people give it a go they comment on how tight and positive the action is. It's fantastic value for money. Scully
Any of them.If it's a pump it must be ok.
Mungler
I've played with 'em all (fnar) and had half a dozen. The best IMHO is the Mossberg. Try a few - some are too heavy, some have a daft sight picture and some pump back to front. Each to their own but Mossberg with ventilated rib multi choke barrel for me. Elmer Fudd 1
how does the action work on the sxp because it looks like it racks its self back requiring on a push faward to reload.
MM
mossberg
ChAoS
Buy an older, second-hand Remington 870 Wingmaster. Better yet, see if you can find a "pre-loved" Ithaca M37. Regards, Mark.
Gee.
I had an SXP, couldn't fault it really. If anything the comb was way too low for me (sorted that tho), yes the action does cycle itself back using the spent gasses so you only rack it forward. gazzthompson
Remington 870!
Mungler
I've had two Remingtons - they are just too heavy!
ChAoS
I've had two Remingtons - they are just too heavy! Ah, well, if'n youse wants a *light* pump, the one to go for is the 20 guage Ithaca *Ultra*light M37. The "ultra" means that the receiver is machined from aluminium and not steel like the "Featherlight". I wouldn't have said that the 870 was heavy; if you want *heavy*, then you'd be looking at a Higgins M20 (from experience) or a Browning BPS (by reputation). Regards, Mark. GingerCat
I quite fancy a pump for rough shooting, are there feed issues with say a 3.5 chambering 2 3/4 carts? Are the cheap hatsans ok for the money? Not wanting to hijack the post but very curious as will be shopping for one in the new year. And they do seen less bother than an auto. b16jus
I bought a old Squires and Bingham pump and very supprised at how well is shoots etc Well worth the small amount of money it cost
Will Poon
Remington 870 and the winchester sxp both great pump action shotguns, and very easy to dismantle to clean as well

There should be no problems - one of the advantages of a pump is that they will reliably cycle anything you can throw at them. Hatsan are great value for money, frowned upon by many but a cheap reliable gun. I can't fault my Hatsan pump.
alros01
Hi don't know about the sxp but I can not believe no one has mentioned the benelli nova or super nova I had the nova good gun
GingerCat
A hatstand pump it will probably be then, especially if I cnb throw anything from 3 1/2 to 2 3/4 thru it and steel proof
fortune
Got a moss 500 atp 8shot on pt1 fac and I really like it. Tthe only slight fault is that it is 3in chambered and when it has the full 8 of 2-3/4 you really have to rack it quick or it will spit out 2 onto the elevator. After this has happened a couple of times you get the knack of putting a finger up through the elevator and pushing one out and rolling the gun and the round comes out the port. re-rack the other round on the elevator. Sounds complicated but a blink of the eye. Pump On.
