Cheap gun cabinets

I'm looking at cheap cabinets on fleabay and wondered if anyone has used them or knows if they are any good. They are about £60 for a single gun and £75 for a 3 gun. Is it a case of buy cheap, buy twice and will they be up to the requirements of all police areas?

Or if anyone has a secondhand one in the South East for sale I'd be interested!

ATB.

This is the type of thing:

I thought external handles were frowned upon and some forces might not be happy with one lock?

This was the one I bought might not of been from this seller the FEO from our region took a good look at it and said it was perfectly fine internal hinge and two seven lever locks.

I've got the RD5 with two scoped rifles and a 12g in it, the rifles are sideways in it as I couldnt get them to stand up without falling towards the door so they take up most of the space but I could fit another shotgun in there easy.

With that in mind you could prolly fit 6-7 shotguns in it.

consider there aint nothing that cannot be made a bit worse and a bit cheaper when the lock jambs with your guns safely locked inside. I don't think there is a "legal" set std for a BS kitemark I have had one of mine passed many times and its older than the BS standard. I know a guy who has a wall clamp passed every renewal for many years and its obviously been made by either a farmer or hobby metalworker. Each circumstance is individual if you get one break in per week locally expect more demands to be made about your security than if the crime rate is almost non existent

I got one of the GDK 6 scoped gun vault lock cabinets for £149 off the 'bay last year - the FEO was well impressed and said it looked and felt as good as my other cabinet (Brattonsound) - it would qualify ++. That's enough for me! :good:

You don't have to use a cabinet.

A well made bracket secured to a wall and a heavy duty padlock is enough.

May be acceptable for a single gun, a strong room to spec is fine but not cheap! For sec1/2 make sure it is BS7558 or it may not pass........I have http://www.sportsman...9;2F5 Gun Safe/ and you can collect if local saving the delivery charge.

The single lock on the lift front type would put me off

This is my next one i think http://www.littlesafe.co.uk/product.php/1533/0/rottner_montana_5_weapon_cabinet_gun_safe similar to the sealey one

They're OK, I'm quite happy with mine. 5 locking bars locking the front door are probably pretty slow to cut through if access to the side isn't available to a thief.

As to the capacity - I found when I had 2 scoped rifles and two shotguns inside it was quite cramped. I've had 5 guns in (all the right way up) and that was really the limit for me - and at least one of those was a little .410.

Some people cram them full - I'm sure there are those who could get 10 shotguns in one - but I don't like banging them all together, and they need to be easily accessed, so for me 5 shotguns would be the limit.
