JimLondon
It's just my opinion based on 1 a number of "run ins with the police" how long before a "run in" leads to loss of license 2 an obvious dislike for said police 3 a refusal to play ball based on dislike of police Like I say it's just an opinion

Dekers
Can someone point me to something that says if i do install a 2nd safe i need to notify them. No they can't because there is no legal requirement. As you have already said, storage is YOUR responsibility. It seems nevertheless that some FEO/Regions play silly games on this one, and others will tell you they have been told by their region they must ask/tell them! Muddy Funker
Dosent matter were they are. Aslong as ive prevented acsess to unathorized persons. Locked in another cabinet bolted to a load bearing wall. No were in the act dose it say i need to get it approved. Please have a read an prove me wrong. Do you not think it makes sense to get the nod from your feo? Yes it's your responsibility to keep the guns secure but how can that been proven or shown without your feo viewing the cabinet? I've heard some stories from mine where he has given the cabinet a shake and it's come off the wall or not even been bolted in the first place. I can't see what the issue is in letting them know and leaving it to them if they want to check it?
Rimfireboy
Visit next Friday to check my new cabinet.

Add to that, where does the "police approved" bit factor in. The cabinet should be manufactured to a British Standard. Last time I looked, the police don't control the BSI. Dekers
if i was putting in a second cabinet, i would phone my flo and ask if he wants two look at it, then its up two him. This whole topic has been done before, and if that is the action you want to take then fine, but unless you have been given some specific condition/instruction to do so by your region you do not have to. If you are concerned about covering your backside then a phone call is not clever, write or better still email, it's easy to forget/deny/dispute the content of a phone call! scotslad
Canae believe this topic has went on so long saying so little.Think deekers summed it up perfectly on last page NO Legal requirement to notify But some regions have added this for no apparent reason. If u want to notify them fine but i cannae see a need I get on great with my flo and asked about an ammo safe he said please my self and see me in 5 years. If i had any doubt (which i don't) i would give him a bell no prob's Like prety much all legal stuff there are some well informed people here but there is some not so well informed, no offence but i would not treat an answer i got off an internet forum as gosbel no matter how certain the person was. Any doubt phone ur org BASC, NGO, SGA with firearms law it is never straight foward to interpret and has some grey areas but atleast u are speaking to boys who have read the law and arenae treating wot their mate down the pub tells them it is the law
