chippy18
Hi All Have just been reading a post connected to anti shooting, so just thought i would add this tale. I have a small carpentry and joinery firm and was asked by a local builder who i do work for to ring a lady who he had passed on my name to. The lady wanted me to go and measure and price for some sash windows she wanted replacing. When i spoke to her to arrange to look, she said she would have to give me directions as her weekend home was in the middle of no where and not many people had heard of it. When she gave me the address it turns out to be on the way to one of the farms i shoot on which is about 25 mile from where i live. I asked her if she would mind me calling in on a Saturday afternoon, as it was this far from my home and i was going to be coming that way anyway and told her i would have no probs finding her as i knew exactly where she was. Surprised she asked me how i knew where it was and i told her that i go that way every other weekend to go shooting on a farm near by. Before i got a chance to say anything else she called me a murdering ******and then a few more things and told me she would never have me do any work for her and that she would phone and demand that the builder who recommended me never use me again and put the phone down on me. I no not everyone agrees with shooting but why have a home in the country if you take that view of it. Maybe i should not have mentioned the shooting but have never had that sort of response before. Just thought I'd tell the tale. Cheers

chippy18
She sounds pathetic. Thats what i thought May the woodworm grow fat on her sashs, sounds like she's got little to be doing with her time. Well said mate I think she has to much time and money on her hands, still her loss me thinks. I would Expect that of a few city/towns people but not someone who lives out in the sticks So would i, but then it her weekend retreat as she put it, surprising she would buy a house in the sticks and not know that shooting is a part of country life. Cheers mate

Lord Geordie
Ask Mark Bivvy about the silly old sow who feeds the local foxes and pays vets bills etc for the injured ones If you ask me SHE needs putting down. But what calibre? You could be a real so n so and IF she get all happy to have heaps of rabbits running about on her land and she has an infectation of them give Defra a call. I beleive they HAVE to take steps to keep down rabbit numbers or Defra can force them to take steps to do JUST that LG
pin
I think the saddest thing about these people is the fact that because they disagree with something we do, they think they have the right to swear and be abusive towards us. If you can't put across your point without raising your voice, swearing and loosing your temper you have serious issues, these people often can't and its deeply sad. As has been said many times, these people are not animal lovers, they are people haters. To a man (or woman) you can probably trace this deviant behaviour back to some pivotal moment in their sad lives. The vast majority were not born like this, they were turned this way by some event, something that happened to them or something someone said to them. I think more should be done to help them with their obvious psychological problems, which amount to nothing more than worrying anti-human personality disorders. Next time you speak to an "anti" spare a thought for the pathetic sad individual behind the angry façade, they used to be people, once
Poacher
I think this highlights the issue of 'townies/tree huggers' buying second homes in the country and not understanding the way of life, be sure to educate the ejits where possible. As LG said 'what calibre'

chippy18
Some good spot on replays. It does make me angry that we as the "murdering shooting *****", just because we have a passion for shooting have to put up with people swearing and abusing us. I am certain had the boot been on the other foot and i was abusing her for her beliefs then she would have had the law onto me. It annoys me that people like this, only see the shooting set as mindless morons who just want to blast away at anything that bleeds. I am not saying that there are not idiots like that, as i have over the years that i have been shooting come across them. If only people would listen and try to understand that shooting is a necessary form of control, and that not only does it help the farming community but it also goes along way to helping conservation and also it contributes a hell of a lot to this countries economy. Thanks for the replies all.

Does he get the job ? Would not bother me what groups he belonged to, or what is views were. I would always be prepared to listen to other peoples opinions. I know everyone does not agree with shooting, but to shove their opinions down your throat without being prepared to listen to the reasons for yours is not on.
