Whitebridges
Phillip is a really nice fella. I nipped over to his today and he couldn't be more helpful. Chris at Wymondham is great as well. Why bother with Churchills they're just plain rude in there.

Bleeh
I like that numpty In Beccles. I wouldn't want to buy much off him, but I think the stock he's got is often great. The guns are weird and wonderful. There sort of chaotic shop he runs is one of the last of a dying breed. Last time I was in there I was torn between a 4b Elephant gun and 1860's musket/bayonet combination. It's worth a look at any rate. For cheap work in Phil and for proper work it's Chris in wymondham. Phil's a great fella but I've seen some questionable work from him in the past, nothing awful but experience can say for a lot of things and he's still not as technically as good as some of the older fellows. Paddy Galore!
hmmm, what can i say about churchills of dereham? they either love you or they hate you it seems, i've tried dealing with them before to no avail, they will sell a gun cheaply, but the flip side of that is if you try to P/X then their offer price is going to be low. However, a very good friend of mine works there, so be careful what you say eh?
RobC1990
Not going to be careful what I'm saying cause he was totally in the wrong for what they did
gazzthompson
I agree, i met Philip last week for the first time, very friendly and knows what he's talking about, i needed a £55 moderator posting from an RFD to RFD, Churchill's wanted £45 to do it, Philip just wanted me to chuck him a few quid.Job Done. Bought my gun from Philip Webster....a really nice, knowledgeable chap..will only go there :good: Philip is the best for the local area. Chatty, knowledgeable and a nice guy who seems to have some good prices!

lakeside1000
Well the good thing to come out of all this is that shooters in the area are now better informed , its difficult to know what these places are like when you just walk in off the street, good after sales service is crucial when building a business, I imagine the shop in question has been in business for some time and the staff have become complacent, thinking that their reputation from years past will count, when in reality they are just destroying their business with every dissatisfied customer, good for you Robert for standing up to them and also for raising this on the forum, the more information we have the easier it becomes to make good choices. Whatmuff
Does it take three weeks to remove a choke and check a double fire over and under? I might call them and just go and get it! I can't imagine how much they ar going to charge
archi
Probably as they arent exactly gunsmiths and tend to outsource the work to a local gamekeeper to do the work who isnt teh quickest Best bet go to Phillip or Wymondam guns as both will do the job properly first time

Whatmuff
Well six weeks later I get my O/U back with the gunsmith telling me the choke is stuck and cracked and probably shouldn't be shot.......... THAT'S WHY IT WAS BLOODY IN THERE FOR!! I'll be taking it somewhere else to be fixed then.
