harrycatcat1
The reason I ask is that I did some chicken with one of those Maggi packet things with some stuff in a packet that you tip on the chicken in the roasting bag. It was a salt bath taste wise but the chicken was lovely soft and moist so I was wondering if anyone just uses the bags? There are some on fleebay but was wondering what size you would need to put a full chicken in. Thanks Regards Hcc

Did you just put the veg in the bag? Regards Hcc
rustybucket
What I did was slice it it to about 2 cm chunks (it was all root veg) and the laid the lamb sliced in inch strips and coated with smoked paprika on the top and left it to slowly cook and it was lovely Rusty bucket

Marc Z
use them most of the time now, except for roast pork and beef. They're great for anything that suffers from drying out. I always use the maggi ones, usually on offer at one of the supermarkets and have some lovely flavours. I usually only use half the flavour bag, as you get quite a lot. They also mean you can just skin your pheasant and pigeons and they wont dry out so much, especially with a bit of streaky on top.
aris
Couldn't you just cover a roasting pan with tin foil and achieve the same thing?
harrycatcat1
Couldn't you just cover a roasting pan with tin foil and achieve the same thing? You would have thought so mate but the bags stop the drying out

vulpicide
Forgot to say they are great for keeping fish moist when you do it in the oven and they dont react to lemon juice the way ali foil does.
