BRAD1927
To say I am furious is probably the understatement of the year!!! After fueling up at the pump i went to pay nothing unusual you might say however, whilst in the queue the manager came out and increased the cost per litre on the advertising boards. I thought this a little strange so when I got to the counter I asked when his last fuel delivery was expecting him to say 20 minutes ago or something similar his reply was "2 days ago sir we are expecting a delivery later" I'm sure most of you are ahead of me on this one but I asked loudly (shop was full)how he justified increasing the cost per litre when the fuel had not even been delivered? His answer??? Yes you guessed it nothing and he scuttled away like a naughty pup!!!!! So ladies and gent confirmation I guess that fuel is artificially priced and that the dirty lady bits are robbing us blind!!!!! Any thoughts? BRAD1927
Price at the pump otherwise they would have been paying for it to be syphoned. The real wrong thing is that the garage was heaving and people queuing at the pumps so most probably didnt even notice until I opened my big gob. I think he may of been in for a rough time as the people behind me looked mighted "drunked" off. LOL
lineshooter
The power of Supermarkets in reverse, but you missed a great opportunity there, you should have said he galloped off, instead of scuttling away
shakari
The easy answer on most cars is to do an LPG conversion. Fuel is cheaper, engine is cleaner and quieter and service intervals increased considerably.
hawkfanz
if everybody went on to gas, they would up the price like they did with diesel, when i got my first diesel it was 25p a gallon cheaper than petrol.look were we are at now. billytheghillie
i dont understand why you use supermarkets for your fuel? they price the little guy out who then shuts down, and then supermarkets charge what they like! be like me and support your local garage. Guest rimotu66
Not sure about other area's in the country but tesco fuel in the Humberside/North Lincolnshire area is lower standard Russian fuel that is stored at Simon Storage on Immingham docks, good old tesco's eh

cockercas
I wont use supermarket fuel. Two reasons. 1. With road tyres on i get about 30 more miles out of a tank by filling up with shell petrol. 2. More recently my dads van kept cutting out. He fills up at morrisons. So he px it against a new van according to vaxhall morisons fuel is rubbish and low quality, and in the mecanics opinion thats what caused the failure. Dads mate started having the same problem on his new van. Took it back to main dealer. Told them what was happening. He was asked were he was filling up. Morrisons he said. They took the tank out and tipped an inch of water out.

billytheghillie
Normally I would agree but sadly Tesco is the cheapest by 3p a litre and I was on empty. you should never run on a near empty tank, no excuse for that. as for cheaper, maybe but buy say 50 lt. and save what? £1.50. and local garage goes down the swanney. anyway supermarket fuel is **** ask any decent mechanic. I think you are being very naive and unfair to the manager who you 'embarrassed' into scuttling off.... Do you really think each branch of tesco pays for it's fuel by the tanker.... what do you think happens.. the manager keeps a wad of cash in the back, the fuel is delivered and then the pump price is dictated by how much cash was handed over!? As has been said... fuel margins at supermarkets are marginal at best and loss leaders at worse, the price at the pump will be on constant watch for movements in the wholesale price Tesco are having to pay minute to minute.. delburt0
when i had taxis i once picked a guy up from the a&e as he had had a accident at work, when we got to his workplace i noticed it was a fuelpump service company, i asked him what he did and he replied that he serviced and set up fuel pumps on forecourts with me spending around 6k on derv a year per car i asked him did i get a good deal from the pumps and are they calibrated to a good standard as everyone thinks this everytime they fill up i no i do he replied "no we always set up to 10% less" and explained they work on £10.00 units which basically meant that if weights and measures did spot checks if the pump gave you £9.01 and the pump showed £10.00 it was acceptable, i asked him if he had ever set any over or too the mark he said no, always upto to the 10% less... :ninja: Edited March 5, 2013 by delburt0
