JDog
I draw the line at foxes but I eat everything else I shoot. If you haven't tried rook, crow, jackdaw and magpie breasts you are missing a treat. Just take the breasts off and wok fry them with onions, noodles and capsicums. FalconFN
I don't think I'd be quite as willing to eat scavengers.
Scottyj
Fair play on eatting everything.... Not for me... Feed maggies and rooks, crows to ferrets or just leave in hedgerow

marc147
The farmer I shoot crows for has alot of pet pigs. I just chuck the dead birds in the field and they wolf then down. They love them if they see me with the gun they stand on the fence line and wait for me.
Frenchieboy
I tend to bury whatever I shoot but am not going to eat in the nearest dung heap. With foxes I take the brush off first to offer to the farmer/landowner to show that I have "done my job"! I'm not too keen on leaving carcasses lying around in case anyone out for a walk with their children come across it - But everyone to their own! JDog
Is the farmer bothered about the lead shot in the carcasses or not Why would the lead shot be in the carcase?
shooternick
Why would the lead shot be in the carcase? when you shoot birds with the shotgun the pellets dont always go through the bird there will still be lead shot in the bird and if the pigs eat them surely the pigs will ingest lead shot.Common sense i thought, have you never found some lead shot in a pheasant you have eaten ?? shooternick
Why would the lead shot be in the carcase? You need to stop eating magpies and crows

Common sense i thought, have you never found some lead shot in a pheasant you have eaten ?? Lead shot could only possibly be in the 'carcase' of a pig if it was shot. If the pig ate a crow with lead pellets in it the lead shot would be in it's digestive tract and not in it's carcase. You need to eat more magpies and crows. marc147
Is the farmer bothered about the lead shot in the carcasses or not No mate he keeps them as pets so not worried about it getting into the food chain. If you had seen some of the rubbish they eat the last thing you would worry about is the odd bit of shot. One of the kids on the farm kicked a football in the field once. Before they could retrieve it one of the pigs had eaten it. The kid who lost his ball was not happy. I on the other hand found it very amusing. JDog
I didnt even mention the carcass of a pig i was talking about the crows and the lead shot in them In which case 'shooternick' you have my unreserved apology. I was on completely the wrong track reading into your post that it was the carcase of the pig rather than that of the corvid which was your concern. I can only put it down to my complete lack of brains and intellect. However your suggested reason as to why I am short in the grey matter department is wide of the mark as my post about eating corvids was a spoof, something which most people seemed to get. The reason why I am so thick remains a mystery.
