Osteve123
Hi everyone, firstly I'm new on here, read lots of posts which have been a great help, so thank you. I've recently obtained a very large permission...now just need to draw in these pigeons!!! I've recently bought a flapper and rotary from AA decoy, all arrived ok, and look well built, so very happy. Only problem is that Andy at AA said the 7ah battery would last a whole day on the rotary...but I only got a good 3-4 hours of "speed"? It was windy (Thurday last week) and cold. Now I know these both can affect batteries, or the draw etc, but should have I expected more run time? The 7ah battery for the flapper was fine, which is no suprise. What size batteries do you guys use for a days shooting on the rotary and flapper? Thanks, Steve.
TIGHTCHOKE
Ring Andy at AA as he told you what you could hope to expect from their equipment. I use a collection of 7 ah batteries and take two out and have two more in the car in case it becomes a long (we live in hope) day!
CZ550Kevlar
Cold saps batteries, also if it was fighting against wind that would drain faster. Could even be a rubbish battery, make a call and have a chat with AA
Gazmanthegun
I would definitely get a spare then you should be good to go for the whole day. Can't expect too much from one 7ah batt, I would have said 3-4 hours is reasonable.
here iam
thats the norm mate for that size take a spare either that or the bigger ones are heavy to lugg around
fenboy
I use a bigger 17amp /hr battery that should do a good 7-8 hrs , but I still take a spare.

sitsinhedges
When the rotary battery runs down use it on the flapper, then use the full flapper one on the rotary.
Osteve123
yea, i did see, how long does the 12ah roughly last? When the rotary battery runs down use it on the flapper, then use the full flapper one on the rotary. Yep, did that, good tip...
vampire
The 12ah bat lasts a couple of sessions on the pigeons, but they are not full 8 hour days and it goes flat on third time out wrapped mine in that camo flex bandage with a handle made of duct tape
Osteve123
Thanks everyone for helping me out, spoke to Andy at AA, and due to the confussion over what I wanted he's sending me a 17ah with free postage, so very happy he's been understanding. I'll definatly be buying from him again, and can only recommend.

I have a 12Ahr battery on the AA flapper and it has run for just over 10 hours at a time over 6 trips in the last 5 weeks, with I suspect more left in it as it didn't take too long to recharge after each trip. powenb
I think I'm going to get myself one of these AA rotors along with a second 7Ah battery. They are a lot "less expensive" than some I've seen. Edited April 9, 2013 by powenb
