lksopener
Hi chaps, I'm joining the wildfowling club at south lincs and need some tide tables for Boston, 2 preferably. I had a number to call for the guys who print them but no one will send me any out. Is there any local lads who could grab me a couple and post them up if I send you the cash through? Many thanks, Liam
Penelope
Just google 'BBC tide tables Boston'. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/coast_and_sea/tide_tables/3/
Reabrook
The BBC is ok if you don't want to plan any further than a week ahead. I've bought these for the last few years and found them very good http://www.douglaspress.co.uk/

HW682
Hi hope you don't mind me asking a question on your thread, now that you are sorted.... I have been looking into joining as well. On the SLW website it says to make sure you get tables for Boston, but if you were on Kirton Marsh wouldn't Tabs Head be better? It seems closer but maybe tide tables don't work that way? If you compare Boston to Tabs Head for today there is about 10-15mins difference in HW but about a 1m difference in height? Is it just a case of using what everyone else is using so that if for example someone says you will be ok on this spot up to say 6m then obviously you both need to be using the same table. So I suppose the question is.. is Boston actually the most accurate table to use, or do you just use what everyone else traditionally uses for consistency? Hope that makes sense. Cheers

Cheers Hello mate you walked on the see wall with the OP Liam and Matt on Sunday but to answer your question I have always been advised to use Boston (dock sill) tide tables. Phone WH Smiths in Boston Liam if Guardian wont send them. Regards Hcc
B B
Easy tide .http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/EasyTide/EasyTide/ShowPrediction.aspx?PortID=0166&PredictionLength=
HW682
.... to answer your question I have always been advised to use Boston (dock sill) tide tables. .... Regards Hcc Thanks for the reply. I know that boston is the recommended table, I just wondered if this is because it is the most accurate or if it is just to be consistent with everyone else. (not all the websites show the less common tables such as Tabs Head and Lawyers Creek etc). Easytide as above is one I was looking at and just wondered "why"? Big Mat
Does south lincs not send out tide tables to you?
ayano3
Get used to using just one tide table. We use Boston dock sill as the norm. Easy Tide etc is ok if you stick to it but the heights of tides vary from the Boston Dock sill one. So if someone uses the tide book took you out and told you not to go out on a 8m tide and you used the online one you would be trapped and very very wet. So my advice is get a book from WH Smiths if your club dont already provide them.

Douglasspress linked above does list Boston and Boston dock sill separately - but the online tables only seem to refer to Boston. These presumeably have a different reference point and the most important thing is for everyone to be consistent. Actually, google turned up this old thread from hcc on a similar subject which also helps.. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/topic/189674-tide-tables-help/ Cheers

The tide table online had the tide as 1m less than what the book said and the tide made what was in the book. Thankfully i'd listened to ayano3 and dropped back somewhere drier! I'll be sticking with the tide book!
joknob
i wouldnt trust a tide book, all you need is a gale blowing up north and nothing down here, and your in the ****.if the tide does anything unusual,ie,coming in a lot earlier than normal, get the hell out of there.craig I very nearly got quite wet one morning down sheps whites due to me checking an online tide table the night before. Mr-Sheen
Use boston dock timetable's. You can get them from WHSmiths in the town centre. Please for the love of god don't use the internet timetable. It is wildly inaccurate and last year the suggested online high tide mark was almost 40 minutes off and nearly landed me in a bad situation. ayano3
The tide tables are only a guide and as Craig states the weather has a influence on the tides even if its a lovely sunny calm day on the wash. Another good pointer is the shipping forecast, if its looking bad at sea you may depend your going to see extra water. This is where experience is required. Until you get that keep safe or get someone with experience to take you. But even the experienced cant predict everything.
