Spinning wing pigeons

Thinking of getting them spinning wing pigeons for the magnet which i avent used yet as new to the pigeon shooting and havent any dead birds to go on there are they any good or am i wasting money?

They have their place in the list of options available, I don't use them on the rotary anymore, I place one or two at the head of the pattern to simulate birds moving along and competing for food.

I think they are a waste of money.

 

Never once, did I have a wood pigeon come into them....... The ferrals, on the other hand, poured into them.

Have to agree, the noise they make and the speed they spin at seems to put the birds off, Ive had them pull away at the last minute , now ive lost confidence in them, if you want a couple of lightweight decoys for the magnet get HYPA FLAPS, they are a bit pricey but I saw two on a magnet on friday and they were very realistic with good movement on the wings, they are certainly on my shopping list,

Hi Guys

 

When I have used the spinny wing jobs at the back of the pattern the birds flare off a long way out, but if it is put well in front of your v or u you stand a better chance of the birds passing in front of you.

 

However much better are real birds or hyper flappers.

Hypa flaps, they are your best bet

Mine woudnt spin unless it was gale force winds. i use the body now but not the wings

as has been said hypa's are the way do a search re spinning wing decoy's plenty on here about them, seems they are a bit of a rave at the allotment?

I use them on my magnet, and the birds come in fine. They do make a bit of noise but that doesnt seem to put the pigeons off.

Must admit that I hid a wry smile on the other side of my face when my shooting pal spent his hard earned on 2 of these and a magnet.Strange thing is,though,in the right conditions ( i.e. a keen wind-which pigeons tend to fly best in anyway) they work a treat-birds tend to flare at the last moment but if your hide is where it should be this is not a problem.If the wind is strong enough to hide the noise then I judge that to be a good time to use them.

I found the hyper flaps are excellent on a magnet, used in laid patches of standing wheat or barley , coupled with some dead birds on bouncers, the birds just poured in.
