DreadedFlapper
For a tooth? My daughter has her first wobbly tooth! Told her the whole tooth fairy story and now very excited about the money. When I was young we got 20p! But got a feeling this is going to cost me more than that. So what is the going rate?

aris
Inflation must be rife. We gave two quid or the first tooth, and £1 for each subsequent one.

FalconFN
£5 a tooth! Jeezus Christ, kids start loosing their teeth at around 6, what does a 6 year old need a fiver for? My kids get £1 per tooth and are more than happy to get it as its not the value that is important but the excitement and wonder of the tooth fairy's visit. They are 10 and 7 and don't need cash for anything except a few sweets and the odd magazine once in a while, if they want anything bigger they have to wait for birthdays or christmas or else sell old toys, earn it with chores and save up - that way the appreciate the value of things. My kids don't have a lot of sweets so there's really nothing to buy for a pound. My daughter likes a magazine and its 3.99 so she gets a fiver and the spare quid goes in her money box. My daughter lost her first toothe at 5 and a half and has lost 4 so far she is 7 next week so hardly a massive outlay Karpman
darren 67
Was talking about this a while ago and a workmate told us he put glitter under his sisters pillow and in the morning told her she must of rolled over and squashed the tooth fairy so she never expected anything after that. Fair enough but its still a lot of cash for a tooth.
