Bloke
First learnt to ride in about 1968, on a mates brothers old Matchless -250cc I think. Then a local bloke gave a battered old pre-unit 650 Triumph to our local scout group as a project, so we took it in turns thrashing it round the local disused old WWII airfield, that was when scouts ignored H&S, one lad broke his leg, no skid lids, nobody was bothered back in the late 60s! Years later got into chops and Harleys, after one too many scrapes from road racers great times, can't ride now though, due to balance disorder. :( Edited May 11, 2013 by Bloke
Tam
Wrecked a few Yamaha FZ1E's at school My first bike was a Honda MB50 that could do 55mph on a flat road but had to rebuild the engine every couple of months Then passed my test & got an old RD200 air cooled that had been tuned for racing

955i
My first bike at age 11 (for field) was a Bantam 175 First roadbike was an FS1-E (wish I'd kept it now I see how much they are going for!!) Have owned many since, but am now looking back to the classics and after a CB750/GS500 or similar now. My bones are too old for the racers now Edited May 12, 2013 by 955i
fortune
one day when I was on the school bus a Suzuki Hustler came past us with a great howl of two stroke noise. All of the lads rushed over to see it go past. when i left school I went out and bought one. WOW. It's a wonder I didnt kill myself on it. It would do about 105 mph and was sheer acceleration and would wheelie on the throttle as if it had a hydralic ram mounted uder the frame. I had the gearing altered on the sprockets to make it more stable and to cruise better. I've still got it out in the garage in almost original configuration. i found these images on Google of the original sale promo sheet. my bike is the same as this colour in candy orange. haven't had it out for years now and it is sheeted over and buried behind a load of machinery. PS That is not a picture of me. that scarf would take 15 mph off of the top speed http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=suzuki+t250r&cr=countryUK%7CcountryGB&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=648&tbs=ctr:countryUK%7CcountryGB&tbm=isch&tbnid=JvUJ2lsssijHKM:&imgrefurl=http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/t250r.htm&docid=gfsPJtKTw2ueJM&imgurl=http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/71T250R.jpg&w=800&h=580&ei=yS6QUZTKAqGc0QXU3IG4Aw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=562&vpy=226&dur=140&hovh=191&hovw=264&tx=149&ty=130&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=187&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:91 http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=suzuki+t250r&cr=countryUK%7CcountryGB&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=648&tbs=ctr:countryUK%7CcountryGB&tbm=isch&tbnid=AO13jRgHrMvCrM:&imgrefurl=http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/t250r.htm&docid=gfsPJtKTw2ueJM&imgurl=http://www.ozebook.com/compendium/suzi/71T250R2.jpg&w=800&h=578&ei=yS6QUZTKAqGc0QXU3IG4Aw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=363&vpy=226&dur=9703&hovh=191&hovw=264&tx=93&ty=167&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=186&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:88 My best mate had one in Candy Green which he nerly killed himself on. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=suzuki+t250r&cr=countryUK%7CcountryGB&hl=en&biw=1024&bih=648&tbs=ctr:countryUK%7CcountryGB&tbm=isch&tbnid=8PHTAiiWCkYAIM:&imgrefurl=http://www.vx220.org.uk/forums/topic/97675-bikes-youve-owned/page__st__60&docid=aM1h1nqGC2l59M&imgurl=http://i1208.photobucket.com/albums/cc364/munchies7/Glens%252520motorbikes/SuzukiT250R_opt.jpg&w=700&h=525&ei=yS6QUZTKAqGc0QXU3IG4Aw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=688&page=1&tbnh=138&tbnw=178&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:94&tx=101&ty=85 Edited May 13, 2013 by fortune
tonker
My first bike was a James 150 rode it everywhere till I dropped it on wet leaves (bent it when it slid into the wall). Then a 175 BSA Bantem, Next was a Triumph Tiger cub , then Enfield Crusader, finished my riding then! with a 650 Bonneville when I wrapped it round a telegraph pole racing a Gt Cortina around our village lanes. Took about 6 months to get over that, and by then my parents had bought me an A35 van and I had been banned from Bikes. Didn't ride again for about 25 years, Then started back with a Kawasaki 175 then Virago 1100, onto a Dragstar 1100 custum and now I ride a Yamaha roadstar warrior 1700 (beast of a bike ) sports cruiser inverted front forks off an R1 all alluninium frame, all the power I'll ever need, and at my age my hips would never take riding a plastic (sorry! sports bike ) We call them plastics at our cruiser club cos ours have alot of chrome. I'll stop now my spade isn't big enough for the hole i'm digging !! Edited May 13, 2013 by tonker

English archer
I really should get my rebuild started, I bought the bike in bits 7 years ago, and it's still in the Crates I bought it in. It's a Douglas Dragonfly, any one remember them? Edited May 17, 2013 by English archer
shakari
I remember them well but if you bought it 7 years ago and haven't unpacked it, you're probably never going to get round to it so feel free to just send it over here for me to play with! LOL Edited May 17, 2013 by shakari

shakari
were they shaft drive I could easily be wrong but believe they were & have a vague idea Kenneth Moore rode one when he was playing Douglas Bader in the film Reach For The Sky. IIRC, he fell off it in the opening sequence & a little later had himself & about 3 others on it when he got pulled up by Plod. Oh & they were a horizontally opposed twin Edited May 17, 2013 by shakari
