Recommend me a gun!

Bought a browning 325 for £850 (first gun) and have no regrets. As others have mentioned, gun fit is really important is you want to be shooting anything but air! Was going to originally go for a webley and scott but was warned against it. Apparently they are riddled with problems (maybe someone else would like to comment here?). Alarm bells started ringing when I realised that a new browning costs around £1700, where as the webley and scott only £650.

the webley and snott 900 i have in my cabinet has only ever been out three times and never in the rain, took the barrels and fore-end off yesterday and one of the pins which the barrels slot onto and swivel around on had rust in it ! it was a tiny amount but on a new gun? also the barrel selector/safety switch also feels like it belongs on a toy, my silver pig may have cost me double the price of the wibley but you dont need to be a genius to figure out why

Only picked it up in the shop. I doubt they'd let me shoot it?! The certainly don't offer it!

Why not? I shot plenty before i bought, most have their own clay grounds or a relationship with one where they either take the gun or let you take it for a couple of hours to try it out. Some do a 7 day returns policy that if you dont get on with it you can return for refund. Would you buy a car based on just sitting in it in the showroom?

As has already been said.. fit is key. I went to the Cambridge Gun Club and tried a FABRM ELOS Sporting and I love it. The stock is a little short but a shoe works well for now until I can afford the time to send it away to be extended.

Just make sure you are happy.... multi choke is essential, weight, fit and look and everything is a bonus.

As long as it fits a Silver Pigeon 1 takes some beating in my opinion. I've had a few different ones over the years andI was recommended by my a friend who is a Gunsmith and it has never missed a beat.

A lot of people don't like Beretta and I'm not sure why I think some feel they are too small and thin but I like that and I'm not small !

Listen to the experts, do a google search on the reviews by the experts.

Mine came with a free ten year warranty so you may find one with some left, they hold their money though and for good reason.

All the best

Nope, checked with my two RFD's and neither of them do. Anyone have a 687 they could let me shoot at Treetops clay pigeon ground on Thursday evening?! Clays and carts on me!!

SPortsman in newport used to let you take guns (used or demo) to treetops to try them out, but since treetops have started trying to sell guns they might not be so keen.............. When it was litts, Treetops was built to let people try out guns from the shop.......

Might be worth asking treetops to get a 687 in for you try...... I don't have a 687 so can't help I'm afraid. HOwever not too far away there are some RFD's with there own grounds or access to others locally..... http://www.ivythornsporting.co.uk/gun-sales.php http://www.gunshoprugby.com/?page=8 http://www.bracesofbristol.com/ http://www.rbsporting.co.uk/index.php/guns-for-sale/used-shotguns-for-sale/
