silver pigeon 3
Never seen bb in a twenty, but there are a few manufacturers that do size 2 shot. Nobel sport do a 31g 0 shot. Why the need for bb?
lap9387
Foxes are being very cheeky at the minute... either that or im a master of disguise! My point is how close they are getting. .. Edited May 16, 2013 by lap9387
evo
why would you want BB in 20g you would prob only get 3 pieces of shot, total waste imo
Floating Chamber
why would you want BB in 20g you would prob only get 3 pieces of shot, total waste imo Silly! BB (4.1mm) runs at 70 pellets to the ounce, (28.4 gram) Even a 14 gram .410 load would contain 30 odd pellets. A .410 load would contain 18 pellets of AAA. kent
The problem will always be minimum quantity. If you reload or if you buy a slab in, few dealers will get you in an odd box in special and buying in shot and components will cost as much or more. The 20 ga can use BB effectively but not as easy as the bigger guns and a single box of BB or no.1 lead wont create any issue for most dealers, in fact I bet you could buy a functional "tractor" gun in 12ga and a box of BB for less than a slab of 20 ga BB
Guest cookoff013
i never said they`d be cheap. reloading, makes ammunition available, that normally wouldnt be. i dont know any dealer who`d order in any ammunition esspecially, even less chance as its 20gauge BB. i could have just told lap to buy a bigger gun. but he didnt ask that. personally i wouldnt shoot a fox with a 20. but i have only shot them with a 12. kent
Yeah, although I wouldn't hesitate on fox if in proven range for a 20 ga personally. I added the 12 ga thing to point out its not cost effective to run 20 ga heavy loads
Salop Matt
Well I have 20g and 12g, am out of big shot (4`s are the biggest i have left) but I dont see BB`s for sale offen. Given a chance I would pick up 2-3 box`s of BB`s for both the 20g and 12g. I suspect my next chance will be at the MGF if am lucky ! Dangerous Brian
I hope the OP has found some suitable shells. I would imagine a year is a long time to wait if you have a fox causing problems. Sorry- couldn't resist!
shootinfishin
The reason I have heavy load 20g is obvious if you look at my signature. We have two 20g as 12g are too heavy for my other half to use, she's a slim size 8 with as much upper body strength as a retarded squirrel lol But she wanted to start coming out on the foxes hares geese etc rather than just the pigeons. All the shops round here stock in a 20g are 6s and 5s if you are lucky. My cartridges are custom loaded by Aleck Kerr now up here in Scotland. He ships all over the world, and I pay a lot less than it costs from a gun shop.

Number 6s will kill charlie if they are getting as close as you say. My mate shot one at 20 yds with a 28 no 7 in steel last week.

Your mate is an idiot then, firing dove dust at a fox. I picked up 1000 20g in No 3 yesterday (£200) At close range 3s will do the job, better with bigger though but it's the best compromise for hare and geese with a couple of foxes
