JDog
One of the most grumpy curmudgeonly farmers I know happens to have some of the best flight lines over his land. When I say his land I actually mean his wifes land, so when I saw a good line into some spring rape I was undecided as to whether I should go to the farm and ask permission. Anyway I did go and he was not there and his wife gave me consent to go anytime I wanted so I was set up within the hour! I set up between two woods with a well-eaten field of spring rape inbetween. The birds were flighting quite a distance and they decoyed well. The only decoys I had out were on the rotary. As others have found of late viz. The Essex Hunter and Motty, the birds really wanted to get in close and the rotary was no more than 10m from the hide and directly in front of it. In three hours I shot and picked exactly 50. I had 51 on the clicker but the dogs just could not find the last one which I suspect was stuck in a bramble bush. This was a really enjoyable afternoon out. maxie
I`ve always found that if you want something from a farmer it can pay to soft soap the wife. But don`t let the farmer know what you`ve been up to.

JDog
Well done JDog a great result. Your the man with the ladies then?? We're you wearing your big cap? ? Yes I had my big cap on and it seemed to do the trick. I have known the woman in question for years, and her husband too. A more unlikely pair you could never meet.
