Long range foxing ?

Was out with Magman (Rob) earlier in the week for a spot of foxing on the shoot, 7pm start had a walk around the pens checking feed and water then off to the a large valley area where I had an idea we would get some foxy action, set up for 8pm, remote caller out and Rob sat at a vantage point over looking the woodland edge bellow us.

Caller on and I sat facing the other direction in case of any Charlie making his way in from behind our vantage point, within what seemed like a few seconds the report of the .223 had me turning around to see that Rob had dropped a fox cleanly at a distance of about 1200 :good: fair doo's.

We had a quick chat and then I resumed watch, less than a minute went by before the report of the .223 filled the air again and fox number two was down, within touching distance of the first  , number 3 followed with Rob having to stand as the fox made a run and was obscured by some cover in front of the rifle, that's right folks, free hand shot :) I jest ye not

My turn now as Rob says 'get yourself set up' and after what seemed like an age ( 5 mins tops  ) fox number 4 was in the bag to the muffle bark of the .243 :yahoo:

Spent another ten minutes calling but that was the lot so time for some pics then off to another field.

Fox number 5 fell to the .243 on the edge of last light, he could be made out through the glass but only as the faintest of shadows by the naked eye, no lamp used just the caller.

Good evenings work :good:

Fair do's boys. I take it you paced out the distance Paul as I know rob can't count that high.

He also can't tell the time, who sends texts out at bloody 2am

The same person that shine's a lamp in bedroom windows at 1am :whistling::innocent:

I'm sure you let me shoot the last of those four because number 3 got a bit to close for comfort when he nearly jumped over you

For those who have not noticed, Rob is at right side if the first pic, the caller can be seen on the left side of same pic
